摘要: A method and system of detecting a delinquent mobile user device. An international mobile subscriber identity (IMSI) of a subscriber identity module (SIM) card of the user device is determined by the user device. The IMSI is sent to a Remote Recovery Server (RRS). A message is received from the RRS as to whether the IMSI is authorized for the user device. Upon determining that the IMSI is not authorized for the user device, a notification is displayed on a display of the user device.

摘要: Mobile devices may obtain applications from an application market infrastructure. The applications may consume data from a data allocation that has been purchased from a mobile data provider. A user may assign a sub-allocation of the data allocation with a specific application, for use by the application. When the sub-allocation is depleted, the application may alert the user and also give the user an opportunity to purchase additional data. If the user accepts an offer to purchase additional data, the application calls the application market infrastructure to process a purchase transaction for the additional data. The application market infrastructure interacts with the user to complete the transaction and then instructs the mobile data provider to allocation additional data to the mobile device of the user, which is then added to the sub-allocation associated with the application.

A current basis for computing usage charges over one or more networks may be made available to the cost-aware application components through an application programming interface supported by an operating system service. That service may receive a policy for charging for data usage over a network and may also obtain information defining data usage for the mobile computing device. Based on this information, the service may determine a current basis for charging for data usage. With this information, the application component can determine a manner for executing network operations that involve data transmission over the network, such as deferring the operation or selecting an alternative network.

摘要: An approach is disclosed for service authorization and service charging in a communication network relying on executing a real time service authorization for a requested service by determining an upper estimate of a service charge for the requested service, comparing the upper estimate with a balance value of an account used for charging the requested service and when affirmative authorizing the requested service. Then follows a calculation of an accurate service charge for the requested service in a batch mode without real time requirements after the real time service authorization.

摘要: Currently existing mechanisms to optimize the quality of experience (QoE) in accordance with user data plans are rather based on user self-managed usage of his mobile user data plan with, for example, help from external applications which continuously evaluate the limits reached. There is thus a need for deployment of intelligence in the network, in order to avoid abrupt downgrades in the QoE for subscribers that go over the monthly quota of their data plan. To overcome these problems, or at least to mitigate them, an embodiment of the present invention provides for an optimization of the user's quota by gradually reducing the required bandwidth for the content that the user requests. This is achieved by a method which takes into account the consumed/remaining volumes in the user data plan as well as the user browsing habits, and which provides context enrichment to content providers to enable taking decisions.
