Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods for reducing beam-hardening artifacts in CT imaging using a mapping operator that comprises a hybrid spectral model that incorporates air scan X-ray intensity data acquired at two different effective mean energies. In one variation, the air scan X-ray intensity data acquired during a calibration session is combined with an ideal spectral model for each X-ray detector to derive the hybrid spectral mode. A mapping operator based on the hybrid spectral model is used to correct beam-hardening artifacts in the acquired CT projection data. In some variations, the mapping operator is a lookup table of monochromatic (corrected) projection values, and the acquired CT projection data is used to calculate the index of the lookup table entry that contains the corrected projection value that corresponds with the acquired CT projection data.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for operating an X-ray device during an imaging process on an examination object, comprises: ascertaining extension information from measurement data of at least one measuring device, the extension information describing extension of the examination object in at least one spatial direction; and parameterizing a reconstruction process based on the extension information; wherein an image dataset covering a reconstruction area is reconstructed in the reconstruction process from projection images of the examination object, which are captured in different projection geometries of an X-ray emitter relative to an X-ray detector of the X-ray device.

Abstract: Systems and methods for positioning in medical systems are provided. The system may obtain data associated with a scanning range of a subject. The system may also obtain an image of the subject on a couch of a medical radiation device. The image may be acquired by an imaging device when the couch is at a first position. The system may determine a position of the scanning range of the subject in the image. The system may further cause, based on the position of the scanning range in the image, the couch to move to a second position. The scanning range of the subject may be in a radiation region of the medical radiation device when the couch is located at the second position.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for medical imaging are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, a method for imaging an anatomic region includes receiving, from a detector carried by an imaging arm of an x-ray imaging apparatus, a plurality of images of the anatomic region. The images can be obtained during manual rotation of the imaging arm. The imaging arm can be stabilized by a shim structure during the manual rotation. The method can also include receiving, from at least one sensor coupled to the imaging arm, pose data of the imaging arm during the manual rotation. The method can further include generating, based on the images and the pose data, a 3D representation of the anatomic region.

Abstract: Versatile, multimode radiographic systems and methods utilize portable energy emitters and radiation-tracking detectors. The x-ray emitter may include a digital camera and, optionally, a thermal imaging camera to provide for fluoroscopic, digital, and infrared thermal imagery of a patient for the purpose of aiding diagnostic, surgical, and non-surgical interventions. The emitter may cooperative with an inventive x-ray capture stage that automatically pivots, orients and aligns itself with the emitter to maximize exposure quality and safety. The combined system uses less power, corrects for any skew or perspective in the emission, allows the subject to remain in place, and allows the surgeon's workflow to continue uninterrupted.

Abstract: For position sensors, e.g., a fiber-based system, that build a shape of an elongated member, such as a catheter, using a sequence of small orientation measurements, a small error in orientation at the proximal end of the sensor will cause large error in position at distal points on the fiber. Exemplary methods and systems are disclosed, which may provide full or partial registration along the length of the sensor to reduce the influence of the measurement error. Additional examples are directed to applying selective filtering at a proximal end of the elongated member to provide a more stable base for distal measurements and thereby reducing the influence of measurement errors.
