摘要: A rotary disc valve includes a guide assembly having a ring-shaped member having a groove disposed in an inner surface thereof, and a valve disc assembly rotatably coupled to the guide assembly. The valve disc assembly includes a valve disc, a projection received within the groove of the guide assembly, and a chimney support coupled to the guide assembly. The chimney support includes a seal member for selectively sealing against the valve disc. The groove has a main portion perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the rotary disc valve, and an angled portion at an oblique angle with respect to the longitudinal axis. When the valve is moved between a closed and open positions the valve disc assembly is rotated and moves the projection along the angled portion of the groove, thereby moving the valve disc toward and away from the seal.

摘要: A valve assembly for use with an unmanned aerial vehicle is provided and includes an inlet tube, a shuttle, a base plate, a screw assembly, and a spacer block. The shuttle is partially disposed within the inlet tube and is configured to be placed in a first position where the shuttle abuts the inlet tube and a second position where the outer surface is disposed in spaced relation to the inlet tube. The base plate extends between a first end portion that defines a cavity therein and a second end portion. The screw assembly is disposed within the cavity of the base plate and is coupled to a portion of the shuttle. The spacer block is interposed between the second end portion of the inlet tube and the first end portion of the base plate and is configured to maintain the inlet tube and the base plate in spaced relation.

摘要: According to one aspect, a system for launching an aerostat may include an inflatable structure defining a volume having a neck, a reactor defining a chamber, a coupling releasably secured in fluid communication between the chamber and the neck, and a drain valve within the volume, the drain valve in a first position away from the neck to receive a lifting gas from the chamber into the volume via the coupling, the drain valve movable from the first position to a second position when the coupling is released from fluid communication between the chamber and the neck, and the drain valve in the second position in sealed engagement with the inflatable structure along the neck to control accumulation of condensate from the lifting gas within the volume.

摘要: An airship and its long-term floating capacity maintenance method are disclosed. The airship includes an airship capsule and a pod at bottom. A renewable fuel cell and a water tank communicated with each other are arranged in the pod. The water tank is provided with a water inlet connected with a filling aircraft outside the airship. The airship capsule is provided with a solar cell. The interior of the airship capsule is provided with a hydrogen storage bag. The solar cell is electrically connected with the renewable fuel cell. The renewable fuel cell can use electric energy provided by the solar cell to electrolyze water provided by the filling aircraft into hydrogen and supplement the hydrogen to the hydrogen storage bag. The airship can supplement hydrogen to the airship capsule by electrolyzing water to reduce the phenomenon of insufficient gas in the airship capsule.

摘要: Aspects of the technology relate to altitude control and lateral propulsion systems in lighter-than-air (LTA) platforms configured to operate in the stratosphere. For instance, an LTA platform may include an envelope filled with lift gas and a payload for providing telecommunication or video services. A fault or failure condition with one or more components of these systems, or with the envelope of the LTA platform itself, can prevent a high altitude platform (HAP) from operating as intended, or otherwise reduce its useful life. Onboard systems are configured to handle adverse conditions, such as a fault or failure of the envelope, an altitude control system component, or the lateral propulsion system. This may be done according to one or more ranked lists of adverse operational conditions. Different conditions may map to different corrective actions, which may be prioritized in importance, for instance to reduce the chance of catastrophic system failure.

摘要: A system for deploying an inflatable structure may include a balloon defining an envelope having a first stiffness, a valve assembly including a control valve, and a reactor defining a chamber having a second stiffness, the valve assembly disposed in fluid communication between the chamber and the envelope, the control valve selectively actuatable to control fluid communication between the chamber and the envelope, the second stiffness of the chamber greater than the first stiffness of the envelope, and the reactor foldable onto itself along the chamber and elastically deformable to unfold in response to an increase in pressure in the chamber.
