Abstract: An aircraft includes a fuselage having a top surface opposite a bottom surface, a front section, a center section, and a rear section. A first mounting rod and a second mounting rod are coupled to the top surface. The first mounting rod and the second mounting rod are single rods. A first and a second wing are coupled to the center section. A plurality of power generator systems are coupled to the first mounting rod or the second mounting rod. Each power generator system includes a power source, a first propeller and a second propeller. The power source is configured to drive the first propeller and the second propeller. The first propeller and the second propeller have an axis of rotation, and are pivotable between a first position and a second position. A shroud encloses the power generator system.

Abstract: Disclosed is a remotely controlled wireless drone which employs a solid fuel rocket engine to propel it quickly to a desired or location. More specifically, an unmanned vehicle including a fuselage and a propulsion unit engaged with the fuselage, the propulsion unit being operable to bring the unmanned vehicle to a desired altitude or location, generally during a launch stage. The fuselage also includes multiple rotors pivotally engaged with the fuselage and a rotor positioning system operable to pivot the multiple rotors between stowed and deployed positions. The stowed position of the propellers minimizes drag and instability during the launch stage, and the deployed position allows the multiple rotors to control the position and altitude of the unmanned vehicle after the fuel of the rocket engine is spent. Submersible/amphibious and other embodiments are also described.

Abstract: A system for payload delivery and drone recovery, wherein the system functions with the use of a lightweight parachute and a directional control module. The system can include a drop system for payload delivery, wherein the drop system releases the parachute and payload upon reaching a target site. The system can also include a recovery system, wherein the recovery system deploys the parachute and steers the failed drone to a target site. A lightweight ram-air parachute is used to provide a lighter steerable parachute system.

Abstract: An aerial vehicle safety apparatus includes a piston member, a cylinder that accommodates the piston member and is provided with a hole through which the piston member protrudes outward at time of operation, a push-up member that is pushed up in one direction by the piston member, an expandable object that is pushed up while being supported by the push-up member, a gas generator as a power source that moves the piston member in the cylinder, and a first member and a second member that serve as a cylindrical container that accommodates the piston member, the cylinder, the push-up member, the expandable object, and the gas generator. The expandable object is stored in the container so as to form a plurality of layers in a radial direction.

Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods including: a latching mechanism comprising: a first latch configured to attach to a door of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV); a second latch configured to attach to a portion of the UAV distal from the first latch; a string connected between the first and second latch, where the string secures the door shut; at least two radio modules in communication with a ground control station; and at least two burn wires in contact with a portion of the string between the first latch and the second latch; where current from a backup battery passes to at least one burn wire when the burn signal is received, where the burn wire causes the connection between the first latch and the second latch to be broken and the door of the UAV is separated from the UAV, and where the parachute is deployed when the door of the UAV is separated from a rest of the UAV.

Abstract: An electrically-powered VTOL aircraft has a fuselage with a cabin flexibly connected to a powerplane assembly that includes a plurality of electrically-powered rotors and booms. The powerplane assembly can pitch and roll relative to and independently of the cabin, thereby generating efficient fore, aft and lateral thrust while the cabin attitude remains unchanged. This provides a stable passenger experience and enhanced performance and controllability with reduced cost and complexity. In some embodiments, the fuselage is vertically elongated and the powerplane assembly mounts above the fuselage such that a person may walk beneath the rotors completely erect without the fear of being struck by any of the rotors. Using a vertically elongated cabin in conjunction with a relatively high powerplane provides various performance benefits that improve controllability and maneuverability particularly in congested environments, reduce complexity and costs, and enhance passenger safety and experience.

Abstract: Devices and methods of a pod that deploys from an aircraft or vehicle and descends to safely land. The pod is configured to be attached to an aircraft or vehicle. The pod includes walls that extend around and form a contained interior space that houses one or more travelers or cargo containers. During flight of the aircraft or vehicle, the pod deploys from the aircraft or vehicle while at an elevation above ground. A landing location is determined for the pod. While the pod is descending, the pod is steered towards and lands at the landing location.

Abstract: An example reusable high-altitude balloon system includes a balloon with a first end supporting a payload and a second end with an aperture and an apex fitting that is positioned within the aperture. A clamp applies a pressure to a plurality of pleated folds formed in the perimeter of the aperture around the apex fitting to form an air-tight seal against the balloon at the perimeter of the aperture. The reusable high-altitude balloon system further includes control circuitry that controllably releases the apex fitting from the balloon to initiate a descent sequence.
