    摘要: A method for producing of a polybutylene terephthalate by reacting a dicarboxylic acid component containing terephthalic acid as a main constituent directly with a glycol component containing 1,4-butanediol as a main constituent to form an esterification reaction product and subjecting the esterification reaction product to a polycondensation reaction, characterized in that 0.4 to 1.3 mole of 1,4-butanediol per mole of terephthalic acid is added in the presence of an esterification catalyst which is at least one member selected from the group consisting of titanium compounds and tin compounds, to start said esterification reaction and thereafter a required amount of 1,4-butanediol is supplied additionally to complete the esterification reaction.

    摘要: Poly(alkylene dicarboxylates) such as poly(alkylene terephthalates) are prepared by reacting a dicarboxylic acid or alkyl ester thereof with an alkanediol in the presence of a titanium-containing chelate compound which may be prepared by the reaction of a tetraalkyl titanate with an ortho-disubstituted hydroxyaromatic compound of the formula ##STR1## wherein X.sup.1 is hydrogen, lower alkyl or lower aryl. Polymerization by this method minimizes ester-carbonate interchange in blends of the poly(alkylene dicarboxylates) with aromatic polycarbonates. The chelates in which X.sup.1 is lower alkyl or lower aryl are novel compounds.

    摘要: An olefinically unsaturated alkyl carboxylate is reacted with hydrogen sulfide in the presence of a lower alkanol using an addition catalyst with water and/or sulfur cocatalyst to give an alkyl mercaptocarboxylate/dialkyl thiodicarboxylate mixture having a high proportion of the mercaptocarboxylate. If sulfur is contained in the cocatalyst, dialkyl dithiodicarboxylates are also formed. The resulting mixture on transesterification with a poly(oxyalkylene)-polyol gives a poly(oxyalkylene)-polyester-poly(monosulfide)-polythiol or a poly(oxyalkylene)-polyester-poly(monosulfide)-poly(disulfide)-polythiol having a good balance of properties.
