摘要： A lock system is provided having a lock housing and a lock barrel, a keeper shoulder, at least one full positioner shoulder, and a positioner shoulder having a U-shaped channel. A lock plug having a keyway and tumblers is received in the barrel for rotation between locked and unlocked positions. The tumblers include a key tumbler, a positioner tumbler and a keeper tumbler. The lock plug is rotatable between a first rotary position and a second rotary position. A control key is received into the keyway to retract the lock tumbler and partially retract the keeper tumbler. Removal of the lock plug from the lock barrel requires rotation of the lock plug from the first rotary position to the second rotary position and the presence of the control key within the lock plug when in the second rotary position.

摘要： The present invention provides a pin and tumbler cylinder lock and a retrofitted cylinder lock which minimizes unauthorized openings of the lock by bumping. The cylinder lock utilizes specially designed driver pins which are correlated in size to the largest possible stack height of the tumbler pins with a bump key inserted in the plug portion of the lock and the shear line height of the lock. All the driver pins are about the same height and preferably symmetrical with a lip on each end. The invention also provides a method for retrofitting existing locks by removing at least one of the driver pins and replacing the removed driver pin or pins with the driver pins of the invention.

The lock arrangement also includes a tumbler supported in the lock cylinder for movement relative to the lock cylinder between a locked position, in which rotation of the lock cylinder relative to the housing is prevented, and an unlocked position, in which the lock cylinder is rotatable about the longitudinal axis relative to the housing. One of the locked and unlocked positions of the tumbler is changeable after the tumbler is supported in the lock cylinder to code the lock to a key. The lock arrangement further includes an indicator at least partially supportable in the keyway for showing that a key has been inserted into the keyway to code the lock.

摘要： A double bitted key is provided for locks of the type using flat tumblers. There is a double bit for each tumbler. Each double bit corrrectly sets its complementary tumbler. Each bit includes a flat surface extending along a surface of the key. The key has one or more peaks and valleys. When a valley is between two peaks it is a full valley and its flat surface is about three times as long as the thickness of a tumbler. When a valley is between a peak and another valley it is called a hybrid peak-valley and its flat surface has a length along the key which is approximately double the thickness of a tumbler. A peak has a flat surface extending along the key for a distance about equal to the thickness of a tumbler.

摘要： The invention relates to a tamper-resistant lock. The improved lock incorporates metal wafers which rest on the bottom pins in the inner cylinder of a cylindrical key lock. The wafers and the pins upon which they rest alternately incorporate holes in their topside. The wafers and the bottom pins cooperate with trap pins housed in the outer cylinder of the lock at a 45.degree. angle from the vertical insertion position of the key. The trap pins are urged into the holes in the wafers and bottom pins when tampering occurs. This apparatus prevents both the picking or impressioning of the lock, common alternative techniques for opening a key lock without the key. The improved lock also incorporates a feature to prevent unauthorized opening by rapid spinning of the lock by a spring-propelled insert placed into the lock cylinder after it has been picked.
