Abstract: A key for use in a cylinder lock with a rotatable key plug having an elongated key blade with a relatively wide lower portion and a relatively narrow upper portion. A step-like transition region between the wider lower portion and the narrow upper portion. The key blade includes a longitudinal profile groove located adjacent to the step-like transition region that extends along at least a portion of the length of the blade. An inner wall of groove is substantially parallel to a side surface of the lower portion of the key blade. The longitudinal profile groove includes an undercut portion adjacent to and inside a ridge portion of the key blade. The outside of ridge portion forms a part of the side surface of the blade in the relatively wide lower portion up to the step-like transition region and the inside of ridge portion facing inner wall of the groove.

Abstract: A removable core cylinder lock includes a cylinder lock casing and a removable cylinder lock core inserted into the casing. The lock core has an upper massive part with a row of holes for accommodating locking tumblers, and a lower part defining a cylindrical bore in which a cylindrical, rotatable key plug is located. The lower part defining the cylinder bore of the cylinder lock core is partially cut away so as to form an axially elongated chamber accommodating a transversely movable retainer member and leaving a continuous lower wall portion. The retainer member has an axial length, which corresponds to at least half of the axial length of the row of holes in the upper massive part, and a limited circumferential extension, which is substantially supplementary to the continuous lower wall portion so as to define the cylindrical bore.

Abstract: A high security lock and key system with an increased number of code combinations wherein the blade of the key has a wave-like guiding surface at the side of the key blade which, upon insertion into an associated lock having a rotatable key plug, engages with one or more side locking tumblers in the lock cooperating with a side locking mechanism for locking the key plug against rotation. In order to provide an even higher number of possible code combinations, while preserving the overall dimensions of the locks and the keys of the system, an extra code level located at a longitudinally extending shelf surface, viz. at the upper boundary of the side material region where the wave-like guiding surface is cut at the side of the key blade. The invention also relates to a key and a key blade and to a lock for use in such a system.
