Abstract:
A transparent inorganic intermediate layer extends between a color filter layer and a phosphor layer in a color display device. The intermediate layer stops electrons before they can penetrate the color filter layer. Aging phenomena which adversely affect the effectiveness of the color filter layer are thus precluded. It is alternatively possible to use hitherto useless pigments, in particular pigments which are unstable when they are exposed to an electron bombardment in the color filter layer (or layers). By virtue thereof, the effectiveness of the color filter layer has been increased.
Abstract:
A display device is manufactured having a display with an auxiliary plate. The display window (3) and the auxiliary plate (15) are oriented at an angle of tilt &agr;1, preferably substantially vertically, the volume in between the display window and auxiliary plate is filed up to a selected level height (h) with uncured resin, a seal (17) and an opening (18) being provided at or near the highest point. Thereafter the display window is reoriented to a more horizontal position (smaller angle of tilt &agr;2) the auxiliary plate being positioned on top of the display window inducing a flow v of curable material (16) towards the opening (18), and when the resin has reached the opening the resin near the opening is plugged, where after the angle of tilt is further reduced and the resin is fully cured.
Abstract:
A color cathode-ray tube providing a nonglare effect which can be regenerated without degradation of its nonglare function and which can be inexpensively formed. A light scattering film composed of metal containing compound micro-particles having a high index of refraction and a particle size of 0.1 &mgr;m to 2 &mgr;m is formed in contact with the internal surface of a faceplate of the color cathode-ray tube, and a black matrix having a multiplicity of holes is formed on the light scattering film. A red phosphor layer, a green phosphor layer and a blue phosphor-layer are formed in the holes of the black matrix on the light scattering film in such a manner that the phosphor layers of red, green and blue are disposed cyclically in that order. External light incident on the faceplate is partly reflected by the external surface of the faceplate, and the remainder of the external light passes through the faceplate and is made incident on the light scattering film. The external light is scattered by the metal containing compound micro-particles having a high index of refraction, so that no substantial light components of the external light again penetrate into the face plate thereby providing a nonglare effect.
Abstract:
In a method of treating a surface of a face panel for an image display including forming a film on the surface using coating materials, the film is formed of at least two layers including a first layer formed by a spray coating method and a second layer formed by a spin coating method to be superposed on the first layer. Thus, a face plate having antireflection/antistatic effects and providing high-resolution images can be obtained with high efficiency.
Abstract:
A cover plate covering a display panel of a display device has a transparent base having a surface facing the display panel and provided with reflection-reducing minute irregularities. The reflection-reducing minute irregularities consist of numerous projections and numerous valleys lying between the projections, and meet a condition expressed by: PMAX≦&lgr;MIN, where PMAX is the maximum distance between the tips of the adjacent projections, and &lgr;MIN is the minimum wavelength in a visible region in a vacuum. The sectional area ratio of total area of sections of the projections of the transparent base in a plane parallel to the transparent base in the plane increases continuously and gradually in a direction from the tips of the projections toward bottoms of the valleys.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to anode screens of field emission displays wherein the phosphors on said anode are surrounded by a black or dark matrix which reduces the threshold and operating voltages of the display.

Abstract:
A CRT has an improved contrast with the provision of a filter layer where nano-sized metal particles and colored particles are dispersed in a dielectric matrix to selectively absorb light in predetermined wavelengths, specifically wavelengths between peak wavelengths of primary colors emitted by phosphors coated on the inner surface of the faceplate. The improved contrast is a result of the metal particles in a dielectric matrix resonating with particular wavelengths and thus absorbing them.
