摘要: A polymer electrolyte comprises a polymer combined with a solution of a salt in a plasticising solvent, and the polymer is a terpolymer of vinylidene fluoride (VdF), hexafluoropropylene (HFP), and chlorotrifluoroethylene (CTFE). The proportion by weight of vinylidene fluoride is at least 85%. The polymer has a large enough molecular weight that its melt flow index, at 230 null C. and 21.6 kg, is less than 5.0 g/10 min. The resulting polymer electrolyte may be referred to as a solid electrolyte or a gelled electrolyte, and is suitable for use as the separator/electrolyte in an electrochemical cell, such as a secondary lithium ion cell.

摘要: New polymer electrolytes were prepared by in situ cross-linking of allyl functional polymers based on hydrosilation reaction using a multifunctional silane cross-linker and an organoplatinum catalyst. The new cross-linked electrolytes are insoluble in organic solvent and show much better mechanical strength. In addition, the processability of the polymer electrolyte is maintained since the casting is finished well before the gel formation.

摘要: A non-aqueous electrolyte cell in which the cell capacity is improved and positioning accuracy of external terminals is assured. An unit cell is housed in an exterior packaging material of a laminated film and encapsulated on heat sealing. To elongated positive and negative terminals of the unit cell are electrically connected electrode terminal leads which are exposed to outside of the exterior packaging material as the leads are surrounded by heat fused portions. The unit cell is a wound assembly of the positive and negative electrodes each of which is comprised of a current collector carrying a layer of an active material. The electrode terminal leads are mounted on the current collectors of the positive and negative electrodes in the vicinity of the innermost turn of the wound assembly. In manufacturing the unit cell, the positions of the electrode terminal leads are detected and positioned with respect to the flat winding arbor. The positive and negative electrodes then are wound on the winding arbor.

摘要: Novel sulfonylimide and sulfonylmethide compounds are described which are useful as conductive salts. Also described is the use of the above compounds in salt form in battery electrolytes, particular salts having mixed perfluorocarbon and hydrocarbon groups or having all hydrocarbon groups. The above salts are less expensive to produce and still exhibit excellent conductivity and low corrosivity.

摘要: A battery includes an anode, a cathode, and a polymer matrix electrolyte (PME) separator disposed between the anode and the cathode. The PME separator includes a polyimide, at least one lithium salt in a concentration of at least 0.5 moles of lithium per mole of imide ring provided by the polyimide, and at least one solvent intermixed. The PME is generally homogeneous as evidenced by its high level of optically clarity. The battery can be a lithium ion or lithium metal battery.
