Abstract: A secondary battery comprises an electrode assembly including a first electrode, a separator, and a second electrode alternately stacked and wound about a central axis. A first non-coating portion that is not coated with an electrode active material protrudes farther than the separator in a first direction along the central axis and a second non-coating portion that is not coated with the electrode active material protrudes farther than the separator in a second, opposite direction along the central axis. The first non-coating portion contacts a first connection part disposed on an end of a first can of the battery, and the second non-coating portion contacts a second connection part disposed on an end of a second can. At least one of the first connection part or the second connection part comprises a protrusion having a shape protruding towards the electrode assembly.

Abstract: A diagnostic device for a secondary battery having a structure in which positive electrodes and negative electrodes are alternately arranged includes an electronic control unit. The electronic control unit is configured to acquire a first resistance value indicating a magnitude of electrical resistance of the secondary battery, compress at least a part of the secondary battery, acquire a second resistance value indicating a magnitude of electrical resistance of the secondary battery after the compression, determine, using the first and second resistance values, whether an amount of decrease in electrical resistance of the secondary battery by the compression is greater than a predetermined value, and determine whether an increase in resistance due to distortion of at least one of the positive electrodes and the negative electrodes occurs in the secondary battery using a result of the determination.

Abstract: A power storage device includes an electrolytic solution, which includes ethylene carbonate, another solvent having a lower melting point than that of ethylene carbonate, and a supporting electrolyte containing P, a strip-shaped positive electrode plate, a strip-shaped negative electrode plate including a strip-shaped negative active material layer in which an SEI film is formed, and a strip-shaped separator. Abstract: A lithium ion secondary battery with increased durability and capacity includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a separator. The positive electrode includes a current collector foil and an electrode mixture layer disposed on a surface of the current collector foil. The positive electrode mixture layer includes a superficial layer portion and a deep layer portion. The superficial layer portion opposes the negative electrode via the separator. The deep layer portion is disposed between the superficial layer portion and the current collector foil. The superficial layer portion contains positive electrode active material particles having an average particle diameter larger than an average particle diameter of positive electrode active material particles contained in the deep layer portion. A space ratio between the positive electrode active material particles in the superficial layer portion is lower than a space ratio between the positive electrode active material particles in the deep layer portion.
