    Abstract: The present application is directed to a three phase power transmission system including a first conductor line, a second conductor line and a third conductor line. One or more sensors are configured to detect traveling waves in each of the first second and third conductors. A controller is configured to receive data transmitted by the one or more sensors and determine which of the traveling modal waves is a first metallic mode wave (MM1), a second metallic mode (MM2) wave and/or a ground mode (GM0) wave. The controller is operable to determine which of the conductor lines are faulted based on detection of one or more of MM1 waves, MM2 waves and/or GM0 waves.

    Abstract: A method of controlling a microgrid includes retrieving, by an energy management system, EMS, a forecast variable value for a forecast variable. The EMS determines an operating point value for a controllable asset that depends on the retrieved forecast variable value. The EMS determines an operating point shift value for the controllable asset, the operating point shift value representing a shift in operating point value in response to a variation in forecast variable value. The operating point value and the operating point shift value are provided to a power management system, PMS, of the microgrid.

    Abstract: Architectures, apparatuses, methods, systems, and techniques for controlling electrical power distribution network are disclosed. Distributed, hierarchical controls including layered locational energy service control variables may be utilized to determine and control the provision of energy services, including real power, reactive power (VAR), and capacity reserves, by DERs in a distribution network. In a first ex-ante iteration a simulation may be performed to calculate a set of subnetwork-specific control variables based on subnetwork locational energy service prices and a plurality of sets of DER-specific control variables based on DER locational energy service prices. In a second ex-ante iteration a set of actual subnetwork-specific control variables based on subnetwork locational energy service prices and a plurality of sets of actual DER-specific control variables based on DER locational energy service prices. Provision of energy services by DERs in a distribution network occur in response to the determined control variables.

    Abstract: A switch including a housing, a first contact arrangement having a first commutation contact element and a first contact, a second contact arrangement having a second commutation contact element and a second contact, and also a nominal contact arrangement. The first commutation contact element and the second commutation contact element form a snap-action connection with one another in the closed position of the commutation contact element. When the switch is closed, a distance between the first contact and the second contact is smaller than a distance between the first commutation contact element and the second commutation contact element in the direction of the axis.

    Abstract: A gas-insulated high-voltage switching device which includes an arcing contact arrangement having a first arcing zone member and a second arcing zone member that are movable relative to one another along an axis. An auxiliary nozzle surrounds at least a part of a second arcing contact unit and has an auxiliary nozzle throat having an axial extension and allowing passage at least of an end of the first arcing contact unit. A main nozzle throat has an axial extension sideways of the auxiliary nozzle throat and allows passage at least of the end of the first arcing contact unit. A cross-sectional area of the main nozzle throat is substantially decreasing in the direction away from the auxiliary nozzle throat so as to form a substantially converging duct for the flow of an arc-extinguishing gas.
