摘要: A wayside lubrication apparatus (10) for applying a lubricant (26) in response to the presence of a train (14) on the rail (14). To avoid excessive lubricant on the rail, lubricant may be applied in response to a second train only if a predetermined time period has elapsed between first and second trains. The amount of lubricant applied in response to the second train may be controlled by refilling a lubricant container (68) at a controlled rate. The application of lubricant may be terminated before a number of rearmost load cars (46) of the train pass the lubricant applicator (28) so that the quantity of lubricant remaining on the rail is reduced by the wheels (40) of the cars at the end of the train. This prevents the lubricant from reducing the traction capability of the drive wheels (38) of the next oncoming locomotive (16). Operation of the lubricant dispensing apparatus (22) may be bypassed by an operator-controlled bypass device (60) located on-board the train.

摘要: A method of dynamically controlling traction of a locomotive (V) having a plurality of axles (A1-A6) on each of which are mounted wheels (W) for moving the locomotive over a set of rails (R). A creep control signal (creep_n) is provided to a controller (TMTC) for each axle to move the locomotive over the rails, the creep control signal being a function of adhesion operation characteristics (tractive effort, torque, creep) for that axle. An advisory signal (ccc_n) combining values representative of the adhesion quality of the two axles is provided to the controller to maximize the tractive effort of the axle if the adhesion quality of the other axle is a maximum for the current rail conditions. This reduces the amount of time for the axle to attain its maximum tractive effort when rail conditions change.

摘要: A method and apparatus for controlling an inverter circuit to convert dc voltage to variable amplitude and frequency ac voltage use firing pattern tables which are stored and selected in accordance with a required voltage level for the ac voltage. The firing pattern tables are accessed by writable timers which both address the firing pattern tables and define the times between readout of consecutive entires of the firing pattern tables. If requirements of the ac voltage being produced are changed, a new firing pattern table is selected at the end of the currently selected pattern table. Further, as the required frequency of the ac voltage being produced changes during the readout of a selected firing pattern table, the times written into the writable timers are changed accordingly to vary the frequency of the ac signal on the fly. Angle tables corresponding to the pattern tables are stored and accessed by a control processor to determine the times written into the timers. The angle tables are stored in terms of angles between transitions of the pattern tables and one or more angle tables are provided for each pattern table. The amplitude of the ac voltage being produced is determined by pattern table selection and angle table section, if more than one angle table is provided for a given pattern table, and the frequency of the ac voltage being produced is determined by the time signals generated by the processor.
