    摘要: A liquid crystal device including a unipolar driving source; a pair of substrates, at least one of which is transparent; a chiral smectic liquid crystal layer interposed between the substrates; and an electrode arrangement provided in order to apply an electric field normal to the liquid crystal layer, wherein the opposed inner surfaces of the substrates contiguous to the chiral smectic liquid crystal layer are formed of different materials having different surface energies such that upon application of the unipolar voltage to the chiral smectic liquid crystal, the chiral smectic liquid crystal molecules will be placed in a first state and upon removal of the unipolar voltage, the liquid crystal molecules will be returned to a second state.

    摘要: A method of filling a liquid crystal device with a blended liquid crystal material is set forth. The liquid crystal device is filled by disposing the liquid crystal device having an inlet port, in a vacuum chamber, evacuating the vacuum chamber, supplying the inlet port with the blended liquid crystal material, and elevating the pressure in the chamber to allow the blended liquid crystal material to fill the liquid crystal device through the inlet port by virtue of the differential pressure between the inside and the outside of the liquid crystal device, with the temperature of the blended liquid crystal material being maintained, until the liquid crystal device is completely filled with the blended liquid crystal material, at a temperature higher than the transition temperature of any one of the constituents of the blended liquid crystal material so that the blended liquid crystal material is transformed in its isotropic phase.

    摘要: In a voltage control apparatus for an electric generator (1) for vehicles including an armature winding (3), an exciting coil (4), a rectifier (2) for rectifying an a.c. output from the armature winding, and a voltage regulator (5), the voltage regulator comprises a differential amplifier circuit (26) producing a detected voltage corresponding to a difference between a battery charging voltage and a reference voltage, a comparator circuit (30) comparing the detected voltage with a triangular waveform voltage generated at constant periods and producing a pulsed output voltage, a first driver circuit (51) effecting duty-factor-control of an exciting current flowing through the exciting coil in response to the pulsed output voltage, and an initial excitation circuit (32) for causing a predetermined small initial exciting current to flow through the exciting coil intermittently during a time interval after the start of the electric generator.
