Abstract: A method of operating a pumping system for an aquatic application based upon performance of multiple water operations is disclosed. The method includes providing a pump and a motor coupled to the pump, and a controller including a variable speed drive that is in communication with the motor. The method also includes: operating the motor in accordance with a first water operation, wherein the first water operation includes a first start time, end time, and water flow rate: operating the motor in accordance with a second water operation, wherein the second water operation includes a second start time, end time, and water flow rate; and altering the first water operation in response to performance of the second water operation.

Abstract: The present invention provides systems and methods for reducing harmonics, for example when using an AC to AC converter to drive a load such as a motor drive. In a first embodiment, a plurality of load driving circuits is provided, each drawing current from a 3-phase AC supply and driving an AC load, wherein each of said load driving circuit includes a 3-phase rectifier, with the rectifiers of the load driving circuits being controlled such that the rectification of the AC supply by the load driving circuits is staggered. In a second embodiment, a load driving circuit comprises an electronic inductor configured to control the DC link voltage and/or current such that the current drawn from the AC supply by the load driving circuit has a stepped profile. The first and second embodiments may be combined.

Abstract: A method of determining electromagnetic characteristics of an asynchronous motor system is described. A DC sequence is applied comprising DC vectors applied to different phases of the motor in tum. An AC sequence is also applied to different phases of the motor, the AC sequence including pulses having different DC offsets being applied to different phases of the motor. The DC and AC pulses are applied such that any torque generated is minimized. The data obtained is used to calculate the stator and rotor resistances of the motor, the non-linearity of an inverter of the motor system and the nominal stator transient and magnetizing inductances of the motor.
