Abstract:
The invention is based on the realization that feedback control for the vertical drive of a pin head becomes unnecessary if one instead prealigns the relative heights of the spotting surface and the well plates such that the pins in the pin head are lowered to the same absolute height both for picking up liquid from the well plates and depositing it onto the spotting surface. By aligning the heights of the well plates and spotting surfaces, the vertical drive of the pin head needs only to be able to reproducibly and accurately arrive at a single lowered position. A pin head can provide this functionality by having a mechanically defined bottom point, obviating the need for a complex and costly feedback control system for height determination of the pins. A simple, low-cost micro-arrayer can thus be provided.
Abstract:
A low cost radio frequency interference filter assembly comprises a multiple layer structure including a middle trace layer disposed between an upper ground layer and lower ground layer. Non-conductive insulation layers are disposed between the middle trace layer and the upper and lower ground layers. The upper layer includes input contacts, signal contacts, and capacitors which are coupled to the signal contacts and an upper grounded substrate. The middle trace layer includes a grounded substrate and trace lines which are coupled to the signal contacts of the upper layer by signal vias. The lower layer includes a grounded substrate. Ground vias are formed through the insulation layers to couple the middle grounded substrate to the upper and lower grounded substrates. The filter assembly may be formed as an integral projection of a printed circuit board assembly. A structure for an RF power amplifier assembly is provided along with methods for manufacturing a filter assembly and assembling an electronics assembly.
Abstract:
A process for preparing emulsion polymer particles comprising: (a) providing an aqueous emulsion of a multistage core-shell polymer with a hydrophilic core, (b) adding one or more inhibitors to substantially stop any polymerization, (c) adding monomer to the emulsion polymer, (d) adding swelling agent and (e) reducing the level of monomer by at least fifty percent. The process produces multistage polymers having low dry-bulk density useful in coating compositions such paints and paper coatings.
Abstract:
For use with RF circuitry in which a DC bias circuit provides bias voltage is provided to impedance-matched circuitry, a structure is provided, in which a dielectric member, having a high dielectric constant, is selectively placed adjacent to a bias feed line coupled between the DC bias circuit and the remainder of the circuitry, to maintain high RF impedance while reducing impedance at lower frequencies. The invention has particular applicability to RF amplifiers, to be used for amplifying modulated carriers, such as video signals made up of an RF carrier and a lower-frequency modulation. Where the carrier has a predetermined wavelength, the physical length of the bias feed line and the dielectric constant of the dielectric member are chosen such that an effective length of the bias feed line is a quarter of the wavelength of the carrier.
Abstract:
Effective bulking or shrinking of textile fabric prior to wet processing is obtained by recirculating the textile fabric in continuous loop form under an aspirating influence induced with an inert gas while applying heat to the fabric for such bulking or shrinking.
Abstract:
This invention is directed to an ad-hoc peer-to-peer wireless worksite alert system with transceiver devices that communicate with each other using radio signals encoded with a unique identifier for each of the transceiver devices and provide light and audio alerts for worksite workers using the transceiver devices. Each transceiver device includes an alert indicator light, an audio speaker for emitting a siren, and a processor for scanning and transmitting status and alert radio signals. The ad-hoc peer-to-peer wireless worksite alert system does not require a centralized receiver unit and employs a mesh network for direct peer-to-peer communication. The simplicity of a peer-to-peer mesh network provides reliability and the ability to expand the mesh network as needed without additional and expensive equipment for centralized network control and relay.
Abstract:
Various embodiments of a television mount concealer assembly and a method of operating the television mount concealer assembly are described. In one example, the television mount concealer assembly can include a television mount and an adjustable concealer assembly for placement behind a wall-mounted television. The adjustable concealer assembly comprising a front panel, a rear panel, a first flexible sidewall, and a second flexible sidewall. The rear panel can be configured to be placed adjacent to a wall in which a television is mounted, and the front panel can be adjusted between a first position and a second position in order to expand and contract the adjustable concealer assembly.
