Abstract:
A fire protection external vehicle cover including a plurality of panels of a fire retardant material or textile. Each panel is configured to cover an adjacent portion of the cabin of the vehicle; with one or more panels including a retention mechanism to secure the panels by gripping between closed doors and door frames of the cabin. A storage and deployment mechanism is configured to store and deploy the cover from one or more locations on the vehicle; wherein in operation, when deployed, the cover forms an enclosure over the cabin thereby protecting external surfaces of the cabin and thus its occupants and an internal lining of the vehicle from exposure to radiant heat, burning embers and flames if the vehicle is moving through or becomes trapped in a fire.
Abstract:
A pressurized ink delivery system having two delivery reservoirs in an inkjet printer enables a control system to alternate between the two reservoirs for printhead supply without coupling pressurized air from a delivery reservoir to a low pressure source of ink. Each delivery reservoir includes a conduit having an orifice that enables the pressure within a delivery reservoir to exit the reservoir before the ink delivery reservoir is fluidly connected to the low pressure source of ink for refilling of the delivery reservoir. By dropping the high pressure reservoir to atmosphere and then switching the seal actuators for the two reservoirs, the spray of ink is avoided.
Abstract:
A method of operating an engine comprises introducing into a cylinder volume a non-compression-combustible fuel, such as natural gas, a compression-combustible fuel, such as diesel, and an oxidant and mixing the components for greater than about 275 microseconds, prior to compression combusting the compression-combustible fuel. The mixing may be done such that the two fuels are at least partially homogenized in the cylinder volume. By mixing, or premixing, the two fuels prior to combustion, the compression-combustible fuel is then simultaneously combusted via compression at multiple ignition points in the volume. The second, non-compression-combustible fuel is ignited in response to the combustion of the first fuel. An engine that enables the various methods is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A gaming system comprising: a display; a symbol selector arranged to select a plurality of symbols from a set of symbols for display in a display area on the display; a plural special symbol determiner arranged to determine whether a plural special symbol representing a number (N) of special symbols is to be activated; a symbol modifier arranged to operate in response to a determination that a plural special symbol is to be activated so as to modify display of at least one symbol selected by the symbol selector so that the symbols displayed in the display area after modification include N singular special symbols; and an outcome generator arranged to determine a game outcome based on the displayed symbols as modified by the symbol modifier.
Abstract:
A system for source language module interaction using an event mechanism includes one or more subsystems to detect a producer event, detect a consumer event, generate a new source language method for the producer event and a new source language method for the consumer event, and link the producer event and the consumer event using the new source language method. In an embodiment, the source language may be ASL.
Abstract:
A turbine airfoil includes pressure and suction sidewalls extending axially in chord between opposite leading and trailing edges. The sidewalls are spaced transversely apart to define flow channels extending longitudinally and separated chordally by partitions bridging the sidewalls. A perforate partition includes a row of crossover holes extending obliquely therethrough.
Abstract:
Attesting a virtual machine that is migrating from a first environment to a second environment includes in response to initiation of migration of the virtual machine from the first environment to the second environment, accessing one or more stored trust values generated during the trusted boot of the virtual machine in the first environment, determining if the accessed trust values define a security setting sufficient for the second environment, and if the accessed trust values do not define a security setting sufficient for the second environment, performing a predetermined action in relation to the migration of the virtual machine to the second environment.
Abstract:
A ventilated structural panel comprising a first sheet, having edges that define a horizontal axis with a first horizontal edge and a second horizontal edge, and vertical axis with a first vertical edge and a second vertical edge, a second sheet being of substantially the same planar dimensions as the first sheet and having edges that define a horizontal axis and vertical axis, with a first horizontal edge and a second horizontal edge and a first vertical edge and a second vertical edge, the first and the second sheet being parallel in plane and matched in at least one of the vertical axis and the horizontal axis, a plurality of spacing structural elements, formed integrally with at least one of the first and the second sheet, fixedly attaching the first sheet to the second sheet, such that the yield strength of the combined panel is greater than the combined individual yield strengths of the first and the second sheet; and the plurality of spacing structural elements being arranged such that a plurality of unobstructed pathways are created for air to move from at least one edge of the panel to at least one of an opposite and an adjacent edge of the panel, and being arranged to provide integral ventilation through the materials and between the first and the second sheet.
Abstract:
A gaming system is disclosed which includes a symbol selector arranged to select a plurality of symbols for display at a plurality of display positions, a win criterion selector arranged to facilitate selection by a player of at least one win criterion from a plurality of win criteria, and an outcome evaluator arranged to determine whether the selected symbols correspond to a winning outcome. The system also includes a prize allocator arranged to allocate a prize to a player when a winning outcome exists and to allocate a different prize to the player when the selected symbols satisfy the selected win criterion. A corresponding method is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A tool device suitable for use with a driver, the tool assembly being suitable for work operations such as grinding, polishing, sanding, finishing and the like, the tool device providing a disk shape of rigid or pliable material and a central driving spindle connectable to the driver, the disk being provided with a plurality of radial grooves and tendons therein to capture and present abrasive/polishing elements to a work piece, such radial tendons being permanently attached at one end but releasable from the other end for the purpose of loading and unloading the abrasive/polishing elements. The abrasive/polishing elements are prepared in such a way so as when presented to the work-piece a cushioning/cooling effect is achieved via the generous airflow through and around the elements.
