Abstract:
1,146,103. Bis [di (#-cyano alkyl) hydroxy tin] oxides. M & T CHEMICALS Inc. 3 Jan., 1967 [3 Jan., 1966], No. 340/67. Heading C2J. [Also in Division A5] The invention comprises an organotin compound of the general formula in which m is an integer at least 2. It is prepared by reacting a dihalide of the general formula [NC(CH 2 ) m ] 2 S n X 2 , where X is chlorine, bromine or iodine and m is an integer at least 2, with ammonium hydroxide or an alkali metal hydroxide. The preferred dihalide for the reaction is the dibromide of the formula in which m is an integer of 2 to 4. Generally external cooling of the reaction vessel is needed to ensure high yield since the reaction is highly exothermic.
