Abstract:
A diagnostic test device comprises means for sampling a liquid biological sample and means for reacting the sample with at least one reagent to provide one or more visible indicia. The device also comprises an optical detector for detecting the presence of the one or more indicia. The device also comprises means for causing at least part of the optical detector to move over the one or more indicia.
Abstract:
A system and method for anticipating consumer behavior and determining transaction incentives for influencing consumer behavior comprises a computer system and associated database for determining cross time correlations between transaction behavior, for applying the function derived from the correlations to consumer records to predict future consumer behavior, and for deciding on transaction incentives to offer the consumers based upon their predicted behavior.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to the field of wireless communications and more particularly to systems and methods for monitoring wireless traffic in wireless local area networks. The present invention addresses shortcomings of the prior art by providing methods and apparatus for the calculation of more meaningful performance values for a wireless network reflective of the consumption of time on the wireless medium. These performance values may then, for example, be used to control access to the network or displayed graphically to show a user the performance of the network.
Abstract:
Various non-limiting embodiments of the present invention relate to methods of processing titanium alloys wherein the alloys are subjected to deformation above the beta transus temperature (Tβ) of the alloys. For example, one non-limiting embodiment provides a method of processing an alpha+beta or a near-beta titanium alloy comprising deforming a body of the alloy at a first temperature (T1) that is above the Tβ of the alloy; recrystallizing at least a portion of the alloy by deforming and/or holding the body at a second temperature (T2) that is greater than T1; and deforming the body at a third temperature (T3), wherein T1≧T3>Tβ; wherein essentially no deformation of the body occurs at a temperature below Tβ during the method of processing the titanium alloy.
Abstract:
Embodiments described herein provide for a portable computer with a contact-sensitive display having a user-interface that is configurable through user-contact with the display. An active input area may be provided that is configurable in appearance and functionality. The contents of the active input area, its functionality, and the manner in which it is oriented, particularly with respect to a left or right handedness, are described herein.
Abstract:
The invention provides a connector block which has at least two channels (18) therein for connecting one signal transmission line (20) with multiple signal transmission lines (20) in a blasting system for transferring blasting signals. One of channels (18) can be taken as the input end of signal transmission and the other one (or ones), as the output end. Wherein each channel (18) is opened to center cavity (16), thus enabling the input end and output end of transmission line (20) to transfer the blasting signal through center cavity (16). The size and shape of channel (18) matches signal transmission line (20). When signal transmission line (20) is inserted into a channel from one end, it will be received and retained in the channel and the blasting signals are transferred through center cavity (16).
Abstract:
One embodiment of the invention includes a land planning tool that maybe used to perform a variety of land planning tasks. The land planning tool may interpret global information systems (GIS) electronic data in conjunction with user-specified constraints to analyze and display a development site, visually indicating developable areas. The user may then use a pen-based device to sketch outlines of land planning objects. As the user sketches, the land planning tool may generate vector geometry stored in an electronic database for use by a variety of computer aided design tools.

Abstract:
A diagnostic test device comprising means for sampling a liquid biological sample, means for reacting the sample with at least one reagent to provide one or more visible indicia and an optical detector for detecting the presence of said one or more indicia, the device further comprising a releasable tether which is released by contact with the liquid sample, thereby to cause the optical detector to detect the said one or more indicia.
