摘要: In accordance with the invention, gradation display is performed for each picture element in capacitive display apparatuses such as EL display apparatus by means of pulse width modulation. In doing so, pulse duration of the voltage applied to one group of electrodes among the a plurality of electrodes arranged in matrix is so set as to span over two scanning periods, during which another group of electrodes which are grouped into pairs each of two adjacent lines are scanned successively. This reduces the number of drive voltage charge and discharge cycles. Consequently power consumption of the display apparatus of PWM system can be controlled to a low level.

摘要: An EL (electroluminescent) panel driving system includes a display control circuit for producing, line by line, an image data. The image data of each line is defined by a combination of a HIGH level signal representing a spot illumination of the EL panel and a LOW level signal representing a non-illumination of a spot on the EL panel. The system further includes a pre-charge circuit and a pull-up charge circuit for providing a first range voltage to the EL panel at the beginning of each line scan operation to make the EL panel ready to illuminate, and a write-in circuit and a source level switching circuit for providing a second range voltage to the EL panel to permit the spot illumination of the EL panel in accordance with the HIGH level signals contained in the image data. These four circuits are turned on by four signals. The driving system also includes a detector that detects when no HIGH level signal are present in the image data of a line, an AND gate array for cutting off the four signals from the pre-charge circuit, pull-up circuit, write-in circuit, and source circuit, the four circuits are prevented from being actuated, thereby cutting off the power normally supplied during the blank line scanning to save power.

摘要: An ink jet recording apparatus capable of landing an ink drop on an exact position on a recording medium is provided. The ink jet recording apparatus performs recording on a recording medium which has been subjected to application processing with a pretreatment liquid. The ink jet recording apparatus has an electrostatic belt which has a resistance layer formed on the surface thereof, and a power feed roller which imparts charges to the surface of the electrostatic belt. The recording head discharges ink to the surface of the recording medium when the back of the recording medium comes into contact with the surface of the electrostatic belt to which the charges have been imparted.

摘要: There is provided an inkjet printing apparatus which can output a stable image without density unevenness by performing appropriate drive control to print elements based upon an appropriate representative temperature of a chip whatever image data is printed on a print medium. For this purpose, detection temperatures of a plurality of temperature sensors are lined up in high temperature order, and coefficients by which the respective detection temperatures are multiplied, are determined to be associated with that order at the lining-up, determining a representative temperature by the weighted average method. The common drive pulse associated with to the individual chip based upon the representative temperature thus obtained, to be applied thereto. Thereby even if temperature variations of print elements on the chip exist, it is possible to appropriately control the entire chip in temperature.

摘要: A liquid ejection method is effected in a liquid ejection head that includes an ejection orifice for ejecting a liquid, a flow path for supplying the liquid from a liquid supply port to the ejection orifice, and a heat generating element. The heat generating element is rectangular with a long-side to short-side ratio of 2.5 or more for generating thermal energy used to eject the liquid, and a longitudinal direction of the heat generating element is arranged along an extending direction of the flow path. An end portion of the heat generating element on a downstream side with respect to a liquid flowing direction within the flow path is located between an end portion of the ejection orifice on the downstream side and an end portion of the ejection orifice on an upstream side when viewed from a direction in which the liquid is ejected from the ejection orifice.
