摘要: A technique for using a remote array cache memory for data redundancy. A computer system includes a first storage system having cache memory and mass storage. Data to be written to the mass storage is written to the cache memory. Redundant data is stored elsewhere in case the cache experiences a fault before the data can be written to mass storage. Otherwise, data not yet written to the mass storage may be lost. The first storage system is in communication with a second storage system which is typically located remotely from the first storage system. When the first storage system receives a write request, the first storage system forwards the data to the second storage system for redundant storage. Where the data is forwarded to the second storage system, this is referred to herein as “remote mode.” The first storage system may include redundant cache memories and enters remote mode only in the event a fault affects one of the cache memories. The data can then be recovered from the second storage system if needed.

摘要: A technique of workload characterization for a computer system. Records of activity in the system are generated and identified as corresponding to each of a plurality of selected time periods. The records of activity for each selected time period are processed to form a characterization of the activity within each corresponding time period. Further, whether little or no activity occurs during a time period can be indicated by a binary representation. Periods of simultaneous activity of processes can then be determined by applying simple logical operations to the binary representations. Resources of the system may be reallocated based on the characterizations of the activity.

摘要: The present invention provides a method and system for automatically providing group interaction modes in a local area network (LAN) for attendees of an event having mobile devices capable of communicating with the local area network. One aspect of the present invention includes providing a shared data pool on the LAN with data created by a provider of the event prior to the event; and providing the LAN with a group mode. The group mode includes functions for enabling attendees to create user data pools on the LAN from their mobile devices during the event; enabling at least a portion of the mobile devices to upload digital image data captured during the event to the LAN for storage in the corresponding user data pools; and enabling at least a portion of the mobile devices to download the data stored in both the shared data pool and other attendee's user data pools for storage, such that one attendee receives the digital image data submitted by the other attendees. A further aspect of the present invention includes providing the LAN with a guest services mode that includes functions for providing each of the mobile devices having an established relationship with a home network pass-through access to the home network via an Internet connection, and for selectively forwarding to each mobile device's home network the data in the shared data pool.

摘要: A system and method of achieving ride control for a work vehicle that replaces a traditional accumulator with a ride control valve, a directional control valve and a fluid pressure source. The fluid pressure source may be a variable displacement hydraulic pump. The ride control valve is set to a first relief pressure that allows fluid to flow from the head end of a hydraulic cylinder when the loading on the cylinder, i.e., the pressure in the head end is equal to or greater than the first relief pressure. A work tool of the vehicle falls from a first position to a second position when fluid flows from the head end. The ride control valve is then reset to a second relief pressure, higher than the first relief pressure and sufficient to move the work tool toward the first position. Afterwards, the directional control valve is opened long enough to allow fluid from the fluid pressure source to enter the head end and move the work tool back to approximately the first position. The ride control valve may be dynamically adjusted.

摘要: A method is provided for automatically providing remote services for a mobile device having an established relationship with a server of a home network. After the relationship between the mobile device and the server has been set-up and the device detects a local network that is separate and remote from the home network, a connection is automatically established between the mobile device and a local network. The device then automatically establishes an Internet connection with the server through the local network, and transmits to the server information that was stored in the mobile device when the relationship was established. In response to the server recognizing the device through the transmitted information, the server automatically activates at least one service to initiate a transfer data, such as uploading images between the device and the server through the local network.

摘要: An improved instructional method, whose advantage is in being directed and focused upon the point of math education where students are introduced to the three correlated nomenclatures of angle measure; degrees, radians, and gradians. This device removes the obfuscating array of incrementation marks, that are found piecemeal in the existing body of prior art, from the conventional circle design and replaces them with only the marks of incrementation that are already well known to the student at the time of their introduction to the various nomenclatures of angle measure; 24 hour incrementations, and 60 minute incrementations. The amount of equal angle measure through which the radius line pointer may be rotated is then clearly stated upon the design for both, the hour marks and minute marks of incrementation; π/12 radians=50/3 grads=15 degrees, and π/30 radians=20/3 grads=6 degrees, respectively.
