Abstract: A gas turbine engine including core engine is provided. Air may enter the core engine through an inlet and travel through and engine air flowpath extending through the core engine, e.g., generally along an axial direction of the gas turbine engine. The gas turbine engine additionally includes a cooling air flowpath extending outwardly generally along the radial direction of the gas turbine engine. The cooling air flowpath extends between an inlet in flow communication with engine air flowpath and an outlet defined by an opening in an outer casing of the core engine. Moreover, the gas turbine engine includes a heat exchanger positioned at least partially within the outer casing the core engine with the cooling air flowpath extending over or through the heat exchanger.

Abstract: An electric machine is provided which includes a rotor disk extending along a radial direction and having a rotor flange attached to or formed integrally with the rotor disk and extending substantially along the axial direction. Abstract: A thermal management system for a gas turbine engine and/or an aircraft is provided including a thermal transport bus having a heat exchange fluid flowing therethrough. The thermal management system also includes one or more heat source exchangers and a deicing module. The one or more heat source exchangers and the deicing module are each in thermal communication with the heat exchange fluid in the thermal transport bus. The one or more heat source exchangers are configured to transfer heat from one or more accessory systems to the heat exchange fluid, and the deicing module is located downstream of the one or more heat source exchangers for transferring heat from the thermal transfer fluid to a surface of one or more components of the gas turbine engine and/or the aircraft.

Abstract: A planet gear train for an engine casing includes a sun gear rotatable by a shaft, a ring gear, a plurality of planet gears rotatably mounted in a planet carrier and meshing with the sun gear and the ring gear, and a damping system. The damping system includes a soft mount disposed about the shaft and coupling the planet carrier the engine casing. The soft mount includes a flexible inner sleeve and a flexible outer sleeve. The flexible inner sleeve and the flexible outer sleeve are fixedly coupled together at respective central portions thereof near the shaft. The damping system further includes a plurality of damping couplers disposed about an outer flange of the planet carrier. The plurality of damping couplers is configured to flexibly couple the flexible inner sleeve to the flexible outer sleeve.

The first cavity and the second cavity are at least partially fluidly separated by the wall assembly. The first cavity is in fluid communication with a flow of first cooling fluid and the second cavity is in fluid communication with a flow of second cooling fluid different from the first cooling fluid.

Abstract: A method and system for controlling a pitch of blades of a fan assembly having a centerline axis of rotation is provided. The system includes a pitch change mechanism (PCM) including a hydraulic actuator positioned axisymmetric with respect to the fan assembly and configured to angularly displace the blades of the fan assembly between a first position and a second position. The PCM further includes a plurality of hydraulic fluid supply lines coupled in flow communication between the hydraulic actuator and a hydraulic fluid transfer sleeve, the hydraulic fluid transfer sleeve configured to transfer a flow of pressurized hydraulic fluid across a gap between a stationary member of the hydraulic fluid transfer sleeve and a rotatable member of the hydraulic fluid transfer sleeve.
