摘要: A printer assembly including a mechanism for rotating a stripper carriage includes a drum blade for stripping media from a drum and a transfix roller blade for stripping media from a transfix roller of an imaging device. The media stripper carriage is accessed and rotated so that a user may maintain parts of an imaging device without having to remove parts of the device. The stripper carriage pivots about a shaft of a transfix roller. A solenoid activates stripping of media from the drum and/or the transfix roller. When maintenance is required, the stripper carriage is rotated by a user and stops at an open position. The user may then clear a jam, clean parts or perform other maintenance on the imaging device. Then, an access door of the device is closed to automatically rotate the stripper carriage to a position in which the imaging device is ready for imaging.

摘要: Issues that are addressed in accordance with at least one presently preferred embodiment of the present invention, are: improvements upon the time it takes to physically swap degraders (done previously by hand); the safety involved in doing so, since the degraders become highly radioactive; possible improved energy resolution and beam stability if the accelerator can be left running continuously; and in-situ monitoring of beam current, beam position and stability. Particularly contemplated are methods and arrangements for changing degraders automatically, not manually, and in a safe manner.

摘要: Automatic Teller Machines (A.T.M.) will be equipped with the option of holding a second personal identification number (P.I.N.). This second personal identification number will give customers the opportunity to discreetly contact emergency authorities of crimes in progress. Users who successfully enter their second personal identification number will activate a communication device within the A.T.M. that will contact local authorities with the message that immediate help is requested. This empowers users to alert police without giving any indication to hostile strangers that such help is being requested. Activating the emergency response system through the use of the secondary personal identification number will also slow down the ATM machine enough to make a statistical difference in a crime in progress while being undetectable to most common day criminals.

摘要: A small, portable and inexpensive apparatus, and a testing method using the same, are employed to obtain objective data about children to differentiate between hyperactive and non-hyperactive children. In a Delay Task, the child depresses a button, and after at least a predetermined delay interval depresses the button again. Points are scored if the child waits for a sufficient time, but no point is scored if the child presses the button too soon. In a Vigilance Task, a stream of symbols, which can be numerical digits, is presented in a random or pseudorandom order. If the child sees a "1" followed by a "9", the child is instructed to depress the push-button, but not to otherwise. The number of correct responses, errors of commission, (depressing the button at the wrong time) and errors of omission, (failure to depress the button) are recorded. At the end of the task, the data for the tested child are compared with normative data, and an analysis can be made of the child's tendency toward hyperactivity. A Distractibility Task, similar to the Vigilance Task, uses random flashes of symbols to one or both sides of the relevant symbols. The symbols can be given by synthetic speech, for example for testing blind children or for cross-modal testing. Tracking data, e.g., sequences of symbols before or after errors of commission or omission are recorded, and can be utilized in evaluating the child. An autoboot feature automatically defaults to standard test conditions unless other conditions are selected and entered.

摘要: A luggage carrier, collapsible between an extended or in-use position and a retracted or storage position, includes a telescoping stand movable between a retracted position and an extended position, a base pivotally connected to the stand for movement between an extended position in which the base extends outwardly from the stand and a retracted position in which the base is aligned with the stand, and means for releasably locking both the stand and the base in their extended positions.
