Abstract: A water heater may include a water tank, a burner, a pilot for igniting the burner, an ignitor for igniting the pilot, a thermoelectric device in thermal communication with a flame of the pilot, a controller for controlling an ignition sequence of the pilot using the ignitor, and a rechargeable power storage device for supplying power to the ignitor and the controller. The rechargeable power storage device may be rechargeable using the energy produced by the thermoelectric device. The controller is configured to selectively run only the pilot for at least part of a heating cycle to increase the recharge time of the rechargeable power storage device while still heating the water in the water heater.

Abstract: The disclosed technology includes a combustion system providing ease of access to components of the combustion system and optimal placement of a burner such that efficient combustion and heat transfer can occur. The combustion system can include an inner tube having a first end and a second end, the second end having a flange with a sensor port, and an outer tube having a first end and a second end. The inner tube can be disposed within the outer tube. The inner tube can have an outer diameter less than an inner diameter of the outer tube, creating a gap between the outer tube and inner tube. An ignitor assembly and a flame sensor assembly can extend through the sensor port and the gap and be positioned proximate a burner.

In one or more examples, a controller such as a microcontroller of the water heater system is configured to receive power from the non-rechargeable power source and does not receive power from the rechargeable power source. Various other components of the water heater system are configured to receive power from the rechargeable power source. The system may comprise an energy storage system electrically connected to a pilot valve operator and electrically isolated from a main valve operator. The controller may be configured to recognize a call for main burner operation and may also be configured to check an available voltage of the energy storage system against a setpoint.

Abstract: The burner case has a first member having a caulking portion and a second member having a facing portion facing the caulking portion and an extending portion for caulking, the extending portion extending from the facing portion, the caulking portion being held between the facing portion and the extending portion by bending the extending portion. A part of the extending portion in longitudinal direction constitutes a claw portion. The present application provides the main combustion hole upstream the auxiliary combustion hole along the combustion direction, since the main flame is usually larger in scale than the auxiliary flame, by providing the main flame upstream the auxiliary flame, it will be easier for the auxiliary flame and the main flame to intersect each other, and then the effect of stabilizing the flame is realized by opposed flames formed by the auxiliary flame and the main flame.

Abstract: In an oil storage tank having an interior oil storage chamber and a tank opening in one of the boundary walls, a heating assembly is supported to extend into the interior oil storage chamber from the tank opening. The assembly includes a casing of walls surrounding with a casing mounting flange mountable in sealing engagement relative to a tank mounting flange about the full perimeter of the tank opening such that the casing protrudes into the interior oil storage chamber of the oil storage tank. The heating chamber is suitable sized and configured to operably receive a catalytic heater therein. The heating chamber further accommodates entry of combustion air and combustion fuel into the heating chamber and exhaust of emissions therefrom.
