    摘要: An automatic gain controller for controlling gain values of an optical fiber amplifier. The automatic gain controller includes a first opto-electric conversion unit for converting a portion of optical signals that are input into the optical fiber amplifier into electrical signals to output the converted electrical signals. A second opto-electric conversion unit converts a portion of output optical signals output from the optical fiber amplifier into electrical signals and then outputs the converted electrical signals. A transient suppressing unit generates pulse typed waveforms when a change in channel number is generated during monitoring outputs of the first opto-electric conversion unit, and a comparing unit compares the sum of output signals of the transient suppressing unit and output signals of the first opto-electric conversion unit with output signals of the second opto-electric conversion unit. A control unit outputs pump control signals in response to the output signals of the transient suppressing unit and output signals of the comparing unit, and a first pumping light source unit supplies pumping light to the optical fiber amplifier in response to the inputting of the pump control signals.

    摘要: A bi-directional optical access network is disclosed. The network includes a central office that generates a plurality of wavelength-locked downstream optical signals, multiplexes the downstream optical signals, and outputs the resultant multiplexed signal. The network also includes a remote node that demultiplexes the multiplexed signal of the downstream optical signals output from the central office, outputs the demultiplexed downstream optical signals to subscriber units, respectively, multiplexes upstream optical signals, and outputs the resultant multiplexed signal of the upstream optical signals to the central office. The subscriber units slice an associated one of the downstream optical signals to detect a portion of the associated downstream optical signal. The subscriber units generate an associated one of the upstream optical signals, which is wavelength-locked by the remaining portion of the associated downstream optical signal, and output the associated upstream optical signal to the remote node.

    摘要: This invention provides an optical transmission with a demultiplexer for demultiplexing an input optical signal into optical signals of different channels and a multiplexer for multiplexing the optical signals outputted from the demultiplexer. The optical cross-connect device includes: N BICDR (Bit Rate Independent Clock and Data Recovery) receivers each for receiving the associated optical signals outputted from the demultiplexer, for converting the associated optical signal into an electrical signal and reproducing clocks and data based on the bit rate of the electrical signal; a switchboard with a cross-connect switch for receiving output signals from the respective N BICDR receiver; N bit rate discriminating units for receiving the output signals from the N BICDR receivers, respectively, thereby outputting bit rate discriminating signals associated with the N BICDR receivers, respectively; a temperature sensing unit for outputting a temperature sensing signal; and, a central processing unit for receiving the bit rate discriminating signals from the N bit rate discriminating unit, along with the temperature sensing signal from the temperature sensing unit, for compensating each of the received bit rate discriminating signals with a temperature-dependent bit rate value read out, based on the temperature sensing signal, from a memory, and for controlling the bit rate of the associated BICDR receiver based on the compensated bit rate.

    摘要: A wide band erbium-doped fiber amplifier with a gain enhancement is provided comprising a first fiber amplifier adapted to amplify C-band components of an input optical signal, a second fiber amplifier connected to the first fiber amplifier in series while being disposed downstream from the first fiber amplifier to amplify L-band components of the input optical signal. A C/L splitter is disposed between the first and second fiber amplifiers and to split the amplified C and L-band optical signals to flow along different paths. A fiber reflector is disposed downstream from the second fiber amplifier to reflect the amplified L-band optical signal to flow backwards toward the second fiber amplifier. A circulator is disposed between the C/L splitter and the second fiber amplifier to guide the amplified L-band optical signal, reflected to flow backwards by the fiber reflector, so that the amplified L-band optical signal flows along a path different from that of optical signals applied to the circulator. A C/L combiner combines the amplified C-band optical signal split by the C/L splitter with the amplified L-band optical signal guided by the circulator, and applies the resultant optical signal to an output stage.
