摘要: A high-temperature, steam-selective membrane for adding steam to or removing steam from various types of chemical reactions is disclosed herein. In one embodiment, such a membrane includes a polymer layer (a Nafion or sulfonated PEEK polymer layer, for example) exhibiting high selectivity to the transport of steam relative to other gas species. The polymer layer is sandwiched between substantially rigid porous layers that are steam permeable. The rigid porous layers substantially immobilize the polymer layer and reduce the tendency of the polymer layer to shrink and/or expand in response to changes in temperature or humidity. The rigid porous layers may also retain water to keep the polymer layer moist. The physical support and moisture retention provided by the rigid porous layers enable the polymer layer to operate in a temperature range of about 100° C. to 500° C.

摘要: A sensor network routing is formulated as a joint optimization problem taking into account routing cost and information aggregation. Information gain is used explicitly to optimize the routing path. The optimization approach involves a shortest path algorithm in a modified network graph. A method is provided that routes queries from an arbitrary entry point to high activity network sensor regions using inputs from sensor nodes along the path to refine the message. The multiple step look-ahead approach provides deadlock avoidance and routing around sensor network holes. For point-to-point query routing, a method based on real-time A* (RTA*) search is provided to find a path which takes detours efficiently to maximize information aggregation. Future information expected to be gained along the path from an arbitrary node to an exit node may be estimated to allow the selection of a successor sensor node.

摘要: A writing instrument comprises a substantially tubular body extending between a top and a writing end, and an elongate slot disposed in an outer surface of the body and having a detents defined at each end of the slot, and a tubular open-ended cap disposed coaxially around the body and having a cut defining an elongate arm connected to the cap at one end and having an inwardly-oriented protrusion at another end and sized to engage the detents of the slot. The cap is slidable along the body such that the inwardly-oriented protrusion slides along the slot until it engages a detent at an end of the slot thereby arresting the cap either in a closed position, in which the cap covers the writing end, or in an open position in which the writing end is exposed.

摘要: A current-steering digital-to-analog converter (DAC) is tested using a test component having a relaxation oscillator with an oscillation frequency based on the output current of the DAC. A series of test values is provided in sequence to the DAC for conversion to an output current with a magnitude that varies with the test values. The test component counts the number of oscillations (“the oscillation count”) of the relaxation oscillator over a fixed duration that is substantially equal for each test value. As the number of oscillations over the fixed duration depends on the oscillation frequency of the relaxation oscillator, which in turn is based on the magnitude of the output current, the oscillation count can be used as a relative measure of the magnitude of the output current for the corresponding test value. Accordingly, the oscillation counts for the test values can be used to determine operational characteristics of the DAC.

摘要: An optical apparatus with dual illuminating devices includes a body, a first lighting device, a pivoting arm, an actuating pin, a switch and a second lighting device. The body has a joint portion. The first lighting device is mounted in the body. The pivoting arm has a first end and a second end. The first end is pivotally mounted on the joint portion so that the pivoting arm can be adjusted between a first position and a second position relative to the body. The second lighting device is mounted on the second end of the pivoting arm. Rotating the pivoting arm drives the actuating pin to press the switch, which turns off the second lighting device and turns simultaneously on the first lighting device.
