摘要: In a Base Station Subsystem adapted to provide an earthquake and Tsunami Warning System notification message to a User Equipment accessing a cellular radio system using a GSM/EDGE Radio Access Network, GERAN, means are provided for receiving an earthquake and tsunami warning system notification from an emergency centre. In addition means are provided for transmitting the earthquake and tsunami warning system notification to the User Equipment located in affected areas of the message over the Fast Associated Control Channel, FACCH, if the User Equipment is in GERAN dedicated mode and over the Packet Associated Control Channel, PACCH, if the User Equipment is in GERAN packet transfer mode.

摘要: The transfer delay QoS attribute for delay-sensitive applications is enforced in radio access networks by determining the ongoing validity of incomplete data packets based on a maximum data transfer delay constraint. According to one embodiment, upper-layer packet data units (PDUs) associated with an application having a maximum data transfer delay constraint are transferred by starting a timer responsive to initial transmission of an RLC data block associated with one or more of the upper-layer PDUs. The timer is initialized to a timer value that is based on the maximum data transfer delay constraint. The RLC data block is retransmitted responsive to a received message indicating reception of the RLC data block is unacknowledged so long as the timer has not expired. The RLC data block is deleted from memory responsive to the timer expiring or a received message indicating reception of the RLC data block is acknowledged.

摘要: The invention proposes to introduce a method for a Radio Access Network for providing “Local Switching” between call legs of a call. Within said method the Radio Access Network receives a call identifier for a leg of a call from a Core Network to be handled by the Radio Access Network. The Radio Access Network stores said received call identifier, compares said received call identifier with stored call identifiers for call legs of calls via said Radio Access Network. If said received call identifier matches a stored call identifier the Radio Access Networks establish local switching of call legs identified by the matching call identifier. In an alternative embodiment, the invention proposes to introduce a method for a Core Network for providing local switching for call legs of a call. Within said method the Core Network receives or generates a call identifier for a leg of a call. The Core Network stores said received call identifier and identifies a respective Radio Access Network for said leg of said call. Thereafter, the Core Network compares said call received identifier with stored call identifiers for call legs of calls via said identified Radio Access Network. If said received call identifier matches a stored call identifier enforce local switching of call legs identified by the matching call identifier. The invention furthermore provides for respective Nodes of the respective Networks employing the invention.

摘要: Methods, network control nodes, network nodes and user equipments for assisting the updating of neighbor cell information when a new cell is introduced, or added, to an already existing radio access network are described in this disclosure. According to an example embodiment a signal is transmitted, from a first network control node 10 associated with RAN1 to a second network control node 20 associated with RAN2. This signal comprises a cell identity CI1, e.g. a Local Cell Identity LCI1, of the newly introduced cell C109, which is added to RAN1. Next, the second network control node 20 of RAN2 receives the signal comprising the cell identity CI1 of this newly introduced cell C109. In response, the second network control node 20 transmits, to at least one user equipment 30e associated with the RAN2, a signal comprising the received cell identity CI1 of the newly introduced cell C109 as well as a request to the at least one UE 30e associated with RAN2 to search for the newly introduced cell C109 of RAN1, which is controlled by network node 40.

摘要: An MS, for a GSM/EDGE network, arranged to, as a first alternative, use every 13th TDMA frame with an odd number as an idle frame which is used for neighboring cell measurements and every 13th TDMA frame with an even number as a PTCCH, a Packet Timing Control Channel. The MS is arranged to, as a second alternative, use every 13th TDMA frame with an odd number as a PTCCH and every 13th TDMA frame with an even number for neighboring cell measurements. The MS is arranged to transmit information to the network that the MS supports the use of the second alternative, and to receive information from the network about which of these two alternatives that the MS should use.
