    摘要: A planar discharge vessel is composed of a front board 1 made of translucent glass plate and a rear board 2 made of translucent glass plate facing to the front board 1 with a certain distance, a side wall 3 and frit glass 4, which joins a periphery of the front board 1 and the rear board 2 via a side wall 3 to form a planar discharge vessel. Phosphor layers 5a, 5b are formed on an inner surface of the front board 1 and rear board 2 and convert an ultraviolet ray radiated from the discharge medium through discharge into visible light. The external electrode 6, to which a high voltage is applied and the external electrode 7, to which a low voltage is applied are arranged alternately on the outer surface of the rear board 2. A plurality of elongated spacers 8 are arranged at an equal pitch between the front board 1 and the rear board 2 keeping a distance between the front board 1 and the rear board 2 substantially constant and thereby preventing the lamp vessel from breaking due to a pressure difference between inside and outside of the discharge vessel. The linear spacer 8 is located within the maximum width of the external electrode 6, with which each electrode 6 is divided into two in the appearance. Each discharge space is lighted stably by the electrode 6, which is partly exposed to each of the discharge spaces divided by the linear spacer 8 and which is operated as the electrode 10 of each discharge space.

    摘要: A power supply device includes a secondary battery and a charger, and can further utilize an external D.C. power supply. A switch is interposed between a negative electrode of the secondary battery and the ground. This switch is turned OFF when the external D.C. power supply is connected to the power supply device, and is turned ON when the external D.C. power supply is removed from the power supply device. The charger controls the charge of the secondary battery from the external D.C. power supply by regulating the potential of the negative electrode of the battery. A contact remains OFF while the external D.C. power supply is connected to the power supply device. In consequence, a current does not directly flow from the external D.C. power supply to the secondary battery. Therefore, a back-flow prevention diode, which otherwise results in power consumption, need not be disposed between the secondary battery and the load.

    摘要: The color image forming method of the kind sequentially forming toner images of different colors on an image carrier with developers of corresponding colors stored in a plurality of developing devices, sequentially transferring the toner images to a single paper or similar recording medium one above the other, and returning the toner left on the image carrier after the image transfer to the developing devices color by color, and an image forming apparatus practicable therewith. After the transfer of a toner image of any particular color to the paper wrapped around a transfer drum, a cleaning roller assigned to the above color each collects the toner remaining on the drum and again deposits it on the drum. The drum conveys the redeposited toner to one of the developing devices storing a developer of the same color as the toner.

    摘要: In an image forming apparatus, a toner collection mode is executed when a series of image formation modes ends and when the image formation mode is continuously repeated a preselected number of times. A toner image sensing mode for sensing a reflection density from a reference toner image is executed every time the image formation mode is repeated a preselected number of times. The apparatus is capable of surely and efficiently removing toner left on an image carrier after image transfer, and collecting the reference toner image with a developing unit. The reference toner image is prevented from contaminating an image transferring unit and a cleaning unit.
