    摘要: For a serial color ink jet printing apparatus that forms an image using a symmetric printing head that ejects large dots and small dots, the configuration of a printing head is provided for suppressing, to the extent possible, a cyclic fluctuation in the main scanning direction. According to the present invention, individual nozzle arrays are arranged so that two nozzle arrays, i.e., a cyan nozzle array c1 and a magenta nozzle array m1, that are located nearer each other, form dots on adjacent scan lines. With this arrangement, a high quality image, having neither an uneven density nor an uneven color, can be formed when a printing head is inclined, or when a cyclic shift in printing positions occurs, depending on the position of the main scanning direction.

    摘要: According to the present invention, an adjustment value applicable to the adjustment of a printing position is obtainable by reading a printing position adjustment pattern printed on a printing medium without requiring the manual operation by the operator. Furthermore, the printing position can be optimally adjusted by accurately scanning the printing position adjustment pattern. For this purpose, an optical sensor is located in the vicinity of the printing head, and the optical sensor is situated near a predetermined position side. The predetermined position side is a pinch roller side where a large restrictive force acts to the printing medium with the printing position adjustment pattern printed thereon.

    摘要: A print method that uses a printer apparatus based on a multi-pass printing method to reduce the unevenness of colors associated with a scanning direction, even during bidirectional color printing. For this purpose, sets of two print heads that apply cyan (C), magenta (M), and yellow (Y) inks are arranged to be symmetrical in the scanning direction so that a plurality of secondary color pixels arranged in a raster direction can be formed by changing an ink application order (C→M and M→C). Consequently, the pluralities of secondary color pixels arranged in the raster direction undergo the different ink application orders, so that the application order remains the same whether the pixels are formed during forward or backward scanning. Therefore, the unevenness of colors associated with the ink application order can be reduced.

    摘要: A column band pattern memory (10) stores six different column band patterns "SML, SLM, MSL, MLS, LSM, and LMS" obtained by re-arranging three different area modulation ranks (L, M, and S). A column band pattern generator (12) irregularly selects one of the column band patterns stored in the column band pattern memory (10) on the basis of a numerical value generated by a random number generator (11). The selected column band pattern is input to a dot area determination unit (13), and dot areas in units of columns are determined on the basis of the order of dot area modulation ranks (e.g., the order of S, M, and L) in the selected column band pattern. A pulse controller (14) performs pulse control to form dots in accordance with the dot areas determined by the dot area determination unit (13).
