Abstract: A device for retrieving media data includes a memory configured to store media data of a media presentation; and one or more processors implemented in circuitry and configured to: retrieve a manifest file for the media presentation, the manifest file including data for an initialization set, the initialization set including initialization parameters for the full duration of the media presentation; initializing playback of the media data of the media presentation using the initialization set; retrieving the media data of the media presentation; and present the media data according to the initialized playback. For example, the initialization parameters may specify a maximum width or a maximum height of pictures of the media presentation or a maximum frame rate of the media presentation. Thus, the processors can process pictures of any size less than or equal to the maximum width/height, or media data equal to or less than the maximum frame rate.

Abstract: An example device for retrieving media data includes a memory configured to store media data; and one or more processors implemented in circuitry and configured to: retrieve at least a portion of a first segment of a representation of the media data, the at least portion of the first segment including data indicating that the first segment includes a missing section representing a period of time for which media data is not available but for which a segment timeline can be extended; retrieve media data of a second segment having a presentation time following the missing section; extend the segment timeline according to the data of the at least portion of the first segment; and output the media data of the second segment according to the extended segment timeline.

Abstract: An example device for processing media data is configured to parse a bitstream including the media data, the bitstream being formatted according to Common Media Application Format (CMAF), detect, during the parsing, a file type (FTYP) value for a CMAF track file of the bitstream, determine that a CMAF header of the CMAF track file starts with the FTYP value, and process one or more CMAF fragments following the CMAF header of the CMAF track file. The device may additionally be configured to detect one or more segment type (STYP) values in the bitstream, determine that each of the one or more STYP values corresponds to a start of a respective one of the CMAF fragments, and process each of the CMAF fragments starting from the corresponding STYP value.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may identify a bearer (e.g., a default bearer) and request establishment of a second bearer (e.g., a high priority bearer) for use in streaming downlink data from, for example, an application server. The UE may determine a status of a playout buffer and select the first bearer or the second bearer for use in streaming the downlink data associated with the application based on the status of the playout buffer. For example, the first bearer may be used be used by default, and the second bearer may be selected if the amount of data in the playout buffer does not satisfy (e.g., is below) a threshold. In some cases, each bearer may be associated with a transmission control protocol (TCP) port associated with a TCP connection. In some cases, each bearer may be associated with different Internet protocol (IP) address.

Abstract: In one example, a device includes one or more processors implemented in circuitry and configured to execute a Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (DASH) aware application (DAA) and a DASH client, and one or more user interfaces. The DAA subscribes to DASH events of a DASH event stream via a first application programming interface (API) between the DAA and a DASH client executed by the one or more processors. The DAA then receives data for one or more DASH events of the DASH event stream from the DASH client via a second API between the DAA and the DASH client, the data for the one or more DASH events specifying interactivity-related content. The DAA then presents the interactivity-related content via the one or more user interfaces. The DAA may further send usage measurements on usage of the interactivity-related content to the DASH client, for reporting to a report server device.
