Abstract: Precoding matrix indicator (PMI) feedback for Type II channel state information (CSI) feedback in new radio (NR) multiple input, multiple output (MIMO) operations is discussed. According to various aspects, a user equipment (UE) determines a plurality of CSI feedback components and identifies a set of discarded ones of these components based on a particular component value of a precoding matrix indicator (PMI) component. The UE may then generate an adjusted CSI report by adjusting how the discarded feedback components are treated. The resulting adjusted CSI report may then be transmitted to a serving base station.

Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for wireless communication. In one or more aspects, a user equipment (UE) is configured to transmit capability information of the UE for channel state information (CSI) reporting. The UE is further configured to receive, from a base station, configuration information for the CSI reporting. The configuration information indicates a CSI reference resource including a plurality of a first type of time units for CSI reference signal (CSI RS) monitoring, a CSI target resource including one or more of a second type of time units for which channel state information is to be estimated, or both. The CSI target resource is later in time as compared to the CSI reference resource. Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. In wireless systems supporting multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) transmissions, devices may implement beam-forming to improve reliability of communications. A user equipment (UE) may select a set of beams, and corresponding beam indices, for communication based on reference signals received from a base station. The UE may determine values corresponding to each of the beam indices using a scalable set of tables. For example, the UE may select a subset of the tables based on the number of selected beams, and may determine the values based on these tables. In this way, the UE may efficiently store sets of tables for multiple different configurations. The UE may sum the corresponding values to obtain a combination index value, and may transmit the combination index value to the base station. The base station may determine the selected beams based on this combination index value.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described that provide for the utilization of multiple partial bands used in the transmission of one or more channel state information (CSI) reference signals (CSI-RSs). The partial bands may be non-consecutive in the frequency domain, time domain, or a combination thereof and each of which may be precoder using a different precoder configuration. The time intervals, cycling granularity, and number of ports may vary between partial bands. Using RSs transmitted via the multiple partial bands, a user equipment (UE) may determine a channel state parameter for each partial band, which may be used for channel feedback.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure disclose techniques for the indication of the allocation of the downlink (DL) demodulation reference signal (DM-RS) ports for the data channel in NR communications. In some examples, the channel state information (CSI) reference signal (CSI-RS) may be associated with a corresponding DM-RS for a DL data channel. The transmitting device, in some examples, may further transmit a notification that provides resource allocations (e.g., port allocations) that minimize the redundant information that is required to be transmitted from the base station to the user equipment (UE) when the DM-RS port allocation is the same as the CSI-RS port allocation received by the UE in an earlier time slot.

Abstract: Techniques and apparatus for configuring transmission rank and/or precoder(s) to support uplink non-codebook based transmission are provided. One technique includes receiving sounding reference signal (SRS) resource(s) from a user equipment (UE), where each SRS resource is associated with one or more precoded ports. At least one of a transmission rank or a set of precoders is determined based on the SRS resource(s). An indication of at least one of the SRS resource(s) is signaled to the UE. The UE uses the indication of the at least one of the SRS resource(s) to send an uplink transmission.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure describe receiving, from an access point, an indication of at least one of a beamforming method for beamforming a RS or a normalization method for normalizing power for beamforming the RS. A channel covariance matrix corresponding to interference over a plurality of antenna ports can be generated, as well as a RS beamforming matrix based at least in part on modifying the channel covariance matrix and on the normalization method. The RS can be generated based on the RS beamforming matrix and the beamforming method. The RS can be transmitted to the access point based on the RS beamforming matrix.
