    摘要: A method and apparatus for extending the sequence numbering range for a selective repeat transmission protocol is described. In accordance with one embodiment of the invention, data frames are transmitted including an eight-bit sequence number and a one-bit retransmit flag. The one bit retransmit flag indicates whether the frame is newly transmitted or retransmitted due to a failed first transmission. The transmit and receive systems each maintain a twelve-bit sequence number referred to as a "long sequence numbers" comprised of the eight-bit sequence number transmitted with each frame and a four-bit extension. The long sequence number is transmitted within control frames and the eight-bit sequence number is transmitted within the data frames.

    摘要: Techniques to support handover of a terminal from a source base station to a target base station are described. In one design, a determination is made whether a change in personality is requested by the terminal. If the answer is ‘Yes’, then the personality of the terminal may be switched by sending one or more appropriate messages. The connection and RLP for the terminal may be reset due to the change in personality. A buffer of data reported by the source base station as being served to the terminal (e.g., no NAK was sent) may be saved by a BSC/PCF. The buffer of data may be sent to the target base station when handover occurs. New data may thereafter be sent to the target base station. This buffer of duplicate data may avoid both loss of data and retransmission timeout by TCP during the handover.

    摘要: Techniques for dynamically varying coverage in a multi-carrier communication system are described. A sector may operate on multiple carriers. The sector may vary coverage on a given carrier k based on its load, so that less interference may be caused to other sectors when the sector load is light. In one design, the sector may communicate on a first carrier at a first transmit power level and on a second carrier at a second transmit power level equal to or lower than the first transmit power level. The sector may vary the second transmit power level based on its load to vary the coverage of the second carrier. The sector may reduce the second transmit power level to zero or a low level if the sector load is light. The sector may also vary the second transmit power level based on a function of sector load or a switching pattern.

    摘要: A three-dimensional pose of the head of a subject is determined based on depth data captured in multiple images. The multiple images of the head are captured, e.g., by an RGBD camera. A rotation matrix and translation vector of the pose of the head relative to a reference pose is determined using the depth data. For example, arbitrary feature points on the head may be extracted in each of the multiple images and provided along with corresponding depth data to an Extended Kalman filter with states including a rotation matrix and a translation vector associated with the reference pose for the head and a current orientation and a current position. The three-dimensional pose of the head with respect to the reference pose is then determined based on the rotation matrix and the translation vector.

The counter value for the cryptosync may be provided by a counter that is maintained for the channel by the sender. The sender may include a time stamp and/or the counter value, if they are needed to derive the cryptosync at the receiver, in a header of the data packet.

    摘要: Techniques for efficient storage and retrieval of Preferred Roaming Lists are disclosed. In one aspect, PRL entries are stored in two tables. One table contains records that are common to two or more PRL entries. Another table stores any information that is unique to a PRL entry, as well as an indicator of which common record is associated with it. The common record is concatenated with the unique information to generate the uncompressed PRL entry. Various other aspects of the invention are also presented. These aspects have the benefit of reducing the memory requirements for storing a PRL. In addition, time required to download the compressed PRL is reduced.
