    Abstract: A liquid crystal display according to an exemplary embodiment of the present inventive concept includes: a first insulating substrate; a gate line and a data line, a thin film transistor connected to the gate line and the data line, a pixel electrode connected to the thin film transistor, and a second insulating substrate facing the first insulating substrate, wherein one pixel includes the thin film transistor and the pixel electrode and includes a first sub-region and a second sub-region which are separated by the gate line intervened therebetween, the high gradation sub-pixel electrode includes a first high gradation sub-pixel electrode disposed in the first sub-region, and a second high gradation sub-pixel electrode disposed in the second sub-region, and the low gradation sub-pixel electrode includes a first low gradation sub-pixel electrode disposed in the first sub-region, and a second low gradation sub-pixel electrode disposed in the second sub-region.

    Abstract: A liquid crystal display (LCD) includes: a display panel including a plurality of pixels connected to a gate line, a data line, and a reference voltage line to which a common voltage is applied; a data driver connected to the data line and configured to apply a data voltage to the data line; a gate driver connected to the gate line and configured to apply a gate voltage to the gate line; a reference voltage generator connected to the reference voltage line and configured to apply a reference voltage to the reference voltage line; and a signal controller configured to control the data driver, the gate driver, and the reference voltage generator, and output a signal to the reference voltage generator for changing the reference voltage applied to the pixels, wherein the reference voltage is changed according to a gray-level value of an image data.

    Abstract: An array substrate includes: first and second gate lines extending along a first direction; a data line extending along a second direction crossing the first direction, and being insulated from the first and second gate lines; a pixel electrode disposed in a pixel area defined by the data line, the first gate line, and the second gate line; a first auxiliary electrode overlapping the first gate line; and a second auxiliary electrode disposed between the pixel electrode and the second gate line, the second auxiliary electrode being spaced apart from the second gate line. The pixel electrode includes: a first subpixel electrode disposed adjacent to the first gate line, and having first direction size greater than a second direction size; and a second subpixel electrode spaced apart from the first subpixel electrode in the second direction, and having a first direction size greater than a second direction size.

    Abstract: There is provided a liquid crystal display including a pixel electrode including a first subpixel electrode and a second subpixel electrode. The first subpixel electrode includes a first cross stem portion positioned in a first subpixel region and first minute branches extending from the first cross stem portion, and includes first and second body portions that are positioned in a third subpixel region and separated from each other, and a plurality of first and second slit portions that extend from the first and second body portions, respectively. The second subpixel electrode includes a second cross stem portion positioned in a second subpixel region and second minute branches that extend from the second cross stem portion, and includes a third cross stem portion positioned in a third subpixel region and third minute branches that extend from the third cross stem portion.

    Abstract: A liquid crystal display device includes a plurality of pixels disposed on an insulation substrate in a horizontal direction, and including a thin film transistor region and a display area; and a reference voltage line extended along a center of the display area in a direction perpendicular to the horizontal direction. The display area includes a plurality of domains disposed in two rows, a domain in one of the two rows includes a high-gray subpixel area including a high-gray pixel electrode, and a domain in the other of the two rows includes a low-gray subpixel area including a low-gray pixel electrode. The high-gray pixel electrode and the low-gray pixel electrode each include a plurality of unit pixel electrodes, and each unit pixel electrode includes a center electrode having a planar structure and a plurality of minute branches that extend from a side of the center electrode.
