Abstract:
A connector system for a miniaturized form factor card allows a communications system for mobile information devices having an applications processor and user interface components. A receiving frame is provided in the mobile information device for an insertable miniaturized form factor card incorporating means for RF transmission and reception and a wireless modem. A connector moiety on the card is received in a mating moiety in the receiving frame. The miniaturized form factor card also incorporates an array of solder pads for alternative permanent engagement of a mating array of solder pads on a printed circuit board in an alternative mobile information device. The applications processor and the user interface components in the mobile information device are interconnected to digital functions of the wireless modem and means for RF transmission and reception through the connector or, alternatively, the solder pad array.

Abstract:
A method and system for call monitoring in a wireless network by querying various network components for information about a call path through the wireless network. The network components in the wireless network may include foreign agent control nodes, home agent control nodes, packet data serving nodes, home agents, and/or authentication, authorization, and accounting servers. These network components may be queried to determine the foreign agent and the home agent to which a call is assigned. The foreign agent and the home agent may also define information about a call on the wireless network, i.e., the state of the call. Advantageously, the information provided by the foreign agent and the home agent may allow for monitoring a call path through the wireless network.
Abstract:
An Internet Protocol-compatible network element (100) provides PIN encryption key information to a PIN enabled device (102) and then receives from that PIN enabled device a message that comprises both information regarding a transaction to be authorized as well as encrypted information that comprises a corresponding PIN that has been encrypted using the PIN encryption key information. The Internet Protocol-compatible network element then decrypts the encrypted information to provide a recovered PIN and forwards the information regarding the transaction along with the recovered PIN to a transaction authorization host (103) that comprises a discrete network element with respect to the Internet Protocol-compatible network element.
Abstract:
Generally speaking, pursuant to these various embodiments, one provides (101) a schema that specifies, at least in part, constraints with respect to structure and content to be imposed with respect to corresponding schema-based documents. This schema is then used (102) to specify a computable specification for a command line interface to be used with a particular corresponding component. By one approach this computable specification comprises at least one facility specification. This facility specification in turn comprises, at least in part, at least one of an operating parameter (or parameters) as pertain to the particular corresponding component and/or a method (or methods) that are capable of being effected via the particular corresponding component. This computable specification is then used (103) to derive at least one of a corresponding command line interface implementation for the particular corresponding component and/or a graphical user interface for a corresponding management application.
Abstract:
A network element receives data intended for another destination and develops corresponding accounting information. This network element then process this accounting information with respect to at least one filter criterion as correlates to a target accounting information recipient to provide corresponding filtered accounting information. The network element then forwards this filtered accounting information to the target accounting information recipient.
Abstract:
A mobile switching center is configured with software instructions which allow it to continue to provide at least limited call termination and call origination services for mobile terminals in the event of a failure of a signaling link between the mobile switching center and a home location register and/or a signal control point (SCP) in an intelligent network. For pre-paid callers originating or terminating a call, the mobile switching center marks a call detail record as indicating that the call is a post-paid call. The call detail record is later provided to the SCP after the signaling link has been restored in order to bill the mobile terminal. In one example, the signaling link between the mobile switching center and the home location register or SCP may be a satellite link, which may go down for various reasons such as for maintenances, an unexpected failure, or the orbit of the satellite goes outside the field of reception of an antenna in the signal path.
Abstract:
A system for live TV transmission over IP networks incorporates a content encoder receiving live TV broadcast and converting to RTP packets for multicast streaming. A streaming server receives the multicast RTP packets from the content encoder and converts the multicast stream to a unicast stream. The streaming server is also responsive to RTSP commands for trick mode operation. A settop box is connected through an IP network for receiving multicast RTP packets from the content encoder and generating RTSP commands for trick mode operation, the setup box issuing a leave multicast group signal upon issuing a trick mode command and receiving unicast transmission of RTP packets from the streaming server controllable by the trick mode commands.
Abstract:
A method for non-data aided frequency offset determination for MPSK demodulation is accomplished by receiving a stream of K symbols and providing the symbol stream to a delay line of L symbols in length with L greater than 1. The symbol stream and an output of the delay line is taken at each increment of L and then multiplied and the output of the multiplier is raised to the M power to remove modulation. The result is accumulated over K symbols and the argument of 1/K2πMLT times the accumulated result is determined as a frequency offset. L is then incremented and the calculation repeated. The calculated frequency offsets are then summed for a final frequency offset determination.
Abstract:
A system and method for buffering data packets in a data network device having a DRAM buffer are presented. When writing packets, the buffering system separates available memory channels into two groups corresponding to ingress and egress data. Based on the source of the data packets, data pages from the data packets are assigned to channels from either the ingress or egress group. Non-conflicting sets of addresses, called cachelines, are requested on each memory channel, and the data pages are evenly distributed over the assigned channels before being mapped to a cacheline. The number of read transactions currently being monitored by the system is controlled in order to reduce random packet read conflicts. Additionally, write and read transactions are grouped by an arbitration unit prior to being sent to the DRAM controller.
