摘要： The present invention relates to a gate assembly that can be configured to reduce the vulnerability of the gate to operation by a horse. In an embodiment, a lever operator is configured to extend above the head of a rider, such that a rider can reach up to operate the lever to open the gate. A configuration is illustrated wherein the operator lever moves relative to the gate as the gate opens and closes for providing full access through the gate area when the gate is open.

摘要： Cows are milked at a facility including a robotic milker, a pen, a first passage leading from the pen to the milker, and a second passage leading from the milker to the pen. Each passage includes a one-way gate. Each gate includes a barrier that turns about a horizontal axis from a quiescent position in only a first direction in response to the cows pushing against the barrier and turns in the opposite direction about the axis to the quiescent position after each cow has passed through the barrier. The barrier includes plural tines that turn independently of each other about the axis in both directions. In normal operation, the quiescent position of the tines is vertical. For training, the quiescent position of the tines is displaced from the vertical so the tines are above the heads of the animals but below their backs.

摘要： A kennel door apparatus for selectively “opening” and “closing” a kennel door, the kennel door is sized to cover an opening located in a kennel wall between a kennel pen and a common kennel area for selective access thereto. A door opening attachment may be used to cover the opening in the kennel wall. The kennel door apparatus is adapted for horizontal and vertical sliding door actuation. First and second opposing channel guides are secured to opposing sides of a protective panel. A sliding door is slidably received between the wall confronting side and the panel side of the opposing channel guides. The opposing channel guides are secured about an opening in the kennel wall, and at least one cable is used to pull the sliding door between “open” and “closed” positions. A weather strip is secured to the sliding door between the opposing channel guides. The weather strip is positioned beneath the protective panel when the sliding door is in the “closed” position. The cable may be remotely actuated to selectively move more than one kennel door between “open” and “closed” positions by manual, electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic.

The gate assembly has a generally V-shaped configuration in plan view with first and second side openings defined on each side of the V-shape. A gate panel has a first side edge pivotally connected to the frame for rotation about a substantially vertical first pivot axis at the apex of the V-shape. The gate panel is swingable about the first pivot axis between a first position in which the first side opening is closed by the gate panel and a second position in which the second side opening is closed by the gate panel. A mechanical actuator and locking assembly is provided for moving the gate panel between the first and second positions and locking the gate panel in a selected one of the positions.

摘要： A freestall barn for dairy cattle arranged with a plurality of freestall resting areas with resting stalls, and a feed alley; has a feed drive through for a feed delivery vehicle, with feed alleys of the freestall resting areas adjacent and parallel to the feed drive-through. A cow lane crosses the feed drive through forming an intersection with it. The cow lane connects the freestall resting areas, and permits cows to proceed to and from a milking station. A four-way drive-through gate assembly has four horizontal gates disposed to pivot or swing on vertical axes at respective corners of the intersection. In a first position the gates block the drive-through but permit passage of cows along the cow lane. In a second position the gates block the cow lane but permit the feed delivery vehicle to pass through along the drive-through. A mechanically linkage mechanism moves the gates between their first and second positions, such that the gate disposed diagonally opposite one another rotate in the same direction and the gates disposed adjacent one another rotate in opposite directions. Two of the gates are have a narrow axial span relative to the other two gates, and the latter two gates each have an opening therein wide enough to permit a one of the narrow gates to penetrate through it when the assembly is moved between positions.
