An apparatus for applying a tire dressing fluid to a tire surface is provided. The apparatus includes a tire engagement arm having an applicator manifold and leveling pad. The applicator manifold has an opening for receiving a tire dressing fluid and a plurality of openings for dispensing the tire dressing fluid directly onto the tire surface. The leveling pad is provided for engaging the tire surface and spreading the tire dressing fluid over the tire surface. The apparatus additionally includes at least two swing arms and an anchor. The at least two swing arms have a first end rotatably attached to the tire engagement arm, and a second end rotatably attached to the anchor. A method for applying a tire dressing fluid onto a tire surface is provided.

Compositions and methods for use in temporarily protecting a paint booth surface are described which allow removal of the protective composition and undesired overspray with a low pressure stream of water. The protective composition is a mixture containing at least a hydrophobic solvent comprising a C1-4 alkyl ester of a C16-18 fatty acid, a surfactant and a thickener.
Abstract:
Articles such as medical devices are selectively coated with a lubricious coating. A temporary coating, formed from an aqueous solution of a water-soluble polymer of low to moderate molecular weight, is painted onto those portions of the article which are to remain free of any coating in the final product. Then, the entire article is coated with a material which forms a lubricious coating. The article is then soaked in water to loosen the coatings at the locations at which the temporary coating was applied. The coatings are cleanly removed from those locations, leaving an article with a lubricious coating in some portions, and which is uncoated in the remaining portions. The process can be used in coating portions of catheters, surgical gloves, contact lenses, and any other articles which require a lubricious coating only on a portion of the surface of the article.

A vehicle masking material and method of use. The masking material in one embodiment includes a dextrin, a plasticizer, and water. The masking material may additionally include a surfactant. The masking material is applied to a surface which is to be protected from paint overspray or other coating processes, allowed to dry, and the surface is coated (e.g. with paint). After drying of the paint, or other coating, the masking material is removed by water washing.

The composition forms a protective, clear low-slip coating layer upon surfaces, and is readily removable with heated water.

A method for forming a metal layer with a positive pattern on a plastic sheet or plate substrate which comprises printing an oil-soluble, water-insoluble ink on the substrate to provide a negative pattern, forming a metal layer on said substrate by dry metal plating, immersing the substrate in a hydrocarbon having 6-17 carbon atoms, preferably kerosene, and removing the ink layer and metal layer thereon by applying supersonic vibration to the substrate in the kerosene.
