摘要: A medical device may be coated with a therapeutic composition that includes everolimus. Everolimus crystals may be coated with a mixture of excipients to form encapsulated everolimus crystals suspended in a coating composition. An illustrative coating composition may comprise a mixture of excipients including a bioresorbable or thermo-gelling polymer and a plasticizing agent and a therapeutic agent. The bioresorbable or thermo-gelling polymer may be selected from polycaprolactone (PCL) or poloxamer.

摘要: Multilayer tubes including an inner layer and a tie layer are described. The inner layer includes a fluorinated polymer, and has an inner surface defining an inner diameter of the multilayer tube and an outer surface separated from the inner surface by a thickness of the inner layer. The tie layer includes a functionalized styrene block copolymer and is disposed on the outer surface of the inner layer. When the multilayer tube further includes an outer layer, the multilayer tubes exhibit improved peel strength as compared to multilayer tubes including the inner layer and outer layer alone. Methods of manufacturing the multilayer tubes and articles comprising the multilayer tubes are also described.

摘要: Compositions are provided that have at least two of three active ingredients. The active ingredients maybe a salt having a cation NαC8-C16 alkanoyl-L di-basic amino acid —C1-C4 alkyl ester, a glycerol monoester of a fatty acid and a sugar ester of a fatty acid. The compositions are useful in methods of killing or inhibiting planktonic bacteria or fungi and bacteria or fungi embedded in a biofilm and prevention of biofilm formation on surfaces. The composition may further comprise a hydrogel and a benefit agent such as an antibiotic that can be solubilized by the hydrogel and supplied to the biofilm matrix by the active ingredients of the composition. Devices such as chronic wound coverings coated with the composition are also provided. Methods of preserving products with the composition are also provided.

摘要: Coated medical devices include coated catheters. For example, a coated catheter can include a catheter tube of a tubular substrate and a coating thereover. The tubular substrate can be of a first polymeric material transparent to electromagnetic radiation in a range of visible light. The coating can be of a second polymeric material anchored to the tubular substrate by chain ends of the second polymeric material impregnated in the first polymeric material by way of a spent visible-light photoinitiator. Methods of coating can include methods of coating medical devices such as the coated catheter. For example, a method of coating can include irradiating a tubular substrate impregnated with a visible-light photoinitiator with the foregoing electromagnetic radiation while the tubular substrate is disposed in an aqueous solution of a monomer, thereby initiating a radical polymerization of the monomer and coating the tubular substrate with the coating of the second polymer material.
