摘要:
A shield for a plasma arc torch that pierces and cuts a metallic workpiece producing a splattering of molten metal directed at the torch, the shield protecting consumable components of the plasma arc torch from the splattering molten metal. The shield can include a body, a first surface of the body configured to be contact-cooled by a gas flow, a second surface of the body configured to be contact-cooled by a liquid flow, and a seal assembly configured to be secured to the body and disposed relative to the second surface configured to retain the liquid flow contact-cooling the second surface.

A nozzle assembly operable to secure a porous disc within a welding torch. The nozzle assembly comprises a front nozzle member and a rear nozzle member. The front nozzle member is securable to the rear nozzle member. The porous disc is captured between the front nozzle member and the rear nozzle member when the front nozzle member is secured to the rear nozzle member.

A welding implement, such as a TIG welding torch. The welding implement comprises a torch head and a thermal storage member. The torch head is operable to conduct electricity to a welding electrode disposed therein. The thermal storage member is adapted to store heat from the torch head during operation of the torch and to release the heat when the torch is not operated. The thermal storage member is electrically isolated from the torch head by an electrical insulator. The welding implement may comprise a tube coupled to the torch head to conduct gas and electricity to the torch head. The welding implement may also comprise a second tube disposed around the tube proximate to the torch head to increase heat transfer from the torch head to the tube.

A method and apparatus for indicating a temperature of a torch consumable is disclosed. The invention includes a shielding cup constructed to be attached to a torch having a coating which indicates a temperature of the shielding cup during a welding/cutting process. Preferably, the coating indicates to a user when the temperature of the torch is beyond a preferred operating range thereby preventing excessive wear of the consumables associated with overheating.

Electrode and nozzle that seat within a retaining member and in two different seating locations relative to retaining member. The electrode and nozzle each include an interwoven-double-start thread having two thread cuts, which start 180 degrees from one another as measured around the circumference of the electrode or nozzle. Further, the electrode, nozzle, and retaining member include mating frustum surfaces, which are configured and dimensioned so that the electrode and nozzle seat within the retaining member with less than one turn of the electrode and nozzle relative to the retaining member. Therefore, the electrode and nozzle may be quickly inserted in, and removed from, the retaining member.

A welding torch member for securing an electrode to a welding torch is provided. The welding torch member may comprise first and second portions. Each of the first and second portions may have a hole therethrough to enable an electrode to extend through the first and second portions. The first portion may be adapted to secure the welding torch member to a welding torch body. The first and second portions may have a hole therethrough to enable the electrode to extend through the welding torch member. The second portion may be adapted so that it may be compressed onto the electrode to secure the electrode to the welding torch. A second welding torch member may be urged against the first welding torch member to compress the second portion onto the electrode. The first and second welding torch members may be secured to a welding torch. A power source may be used to provide power to the electrode through the welding torch member.

A TIG welding equipment and a TIG welding method are described, capable of forming a welded metal portion deeply without lowering the welding quality, making the welding performance easier and improving the welding efficiency. The TIG welding equipment includes an electrode 2 for generating an electric arc 7 between itself and the welded object 10, a tubular inner nozzle 3 disposed surrounding the electrode 2, and a tubular outer nozzle 4 disposed surrounding the inner nozzle 3. A first shielding gas 8 composed of an inert gas can be supplied from the inner nozzle 3, and a second shielding gas 9 containing an oxidative gas can be supplied from between the inner nozzle 3 and the outer nozzle 4.
摘要:
An improved welding apparatus, for use with a MIG apparatus, or a tungsten rod in a TIG apparatus. A nozzle housing, having an outer shroud, defines an airspace, which receives an injection of water vapor mist. The water vapor mist, when directed into the airspace in the nozzle housing, contacts the heated nozzle housing surface, and is then able to absorb the heat energy from the nozzle housing surface. When the water vapor mist absorbs heat energy, it undergoes a phase change from atomized water into steam. The steam is allowed to exit out of the rear portion of the rear of the nozzle assembly. The phase change of water to steam provides a significant heat transfer, due to the latent heat energy absorption capability of the water that is required to convert it from a liquid state to a gaseous state. This cooling apparatus, and method of cooling, both utilize a minimal amount of water usage, and also dramatically extends the usable life of the welding apparatus.
