摘要: A welding gun assembly having a connection between a diffuser and the inner gun tube which provides increased strength between the diffuser and the gun tube to prevent inadvertent damage to the welding torch and upstream components. The diffuser comprises an engagement portion which engages with, and overlaps, at least a part of a sturdier portion of the inner gun tube. This engagement provides a stronger and more stable connection between the gun tube and the diffuser.

摘要: The invention relates to a securing element (30) arranged between a gas element (32) and a current element (33) of the plug-in element (28). A fixing element (34) is arranged in the coupling (29) of the torch handle and meshes with said securing element (30), and, for guiding over said fixing element (34) arranged in the coupling (29), the gas element (32) has a diameter smaller than those of the securing element (30) and of the current element (33). Said securing element (30) can be guided over the fixing element (34) using a flat area (35), while the gas element (32) is arranged in a gas bore hole (37) in the coupling (29) in a sealing manner. The position of the torch body (27) can be freely adjusted by means of a manual rotational movement, said fixing element (34) being guided in a circumferential groove (36) in said securing element (30).

To improve gas distribution across the cross-section of the gas lens (4) and/or the gas nozzle (9), and to provide for as small a size and as low a weight of the components as possible, an insertion element (17) with a bore (23) in the center through which an electrode (12) is to be guided is arranged, with fan-shaped flow elements (24) being positioned around the bore (23) and twisted relative to the plane of the bore (23) so as to provide for radial deviation of a gas (7, 27) flowing therethrough. The gas lens (4) consists of a base body (10) having a gas-distribution channel (15) with at least one gas-lens filter (20), with an above-described insertion element (17) being arranged in the gas-distribution channel (15), and with a gas-lens filter (20), seen in the out-flow direction of the gas, being arranged downstream of the insertion element (17).

摘要: A variable orifice torch for use in a solid free form fabrication system for manufacturing a component from successive layers of metal feedstock material. The variable orifice torch includes a torch structure defining a torch nozzle formed of a highly conductive bulk material. The variable orifice torch further includes a gas flow channel and a variable orifice defined therein. An arc electrode is disposed within the gas flow channel. The variable orifice is defined in the torch nozzle and in alignment with the arc electrode. The variable orifice is coupled to the torch structure in a manner operable to control a flow gas therethrough by varying the size of an aperture defined by the variable orifice.
