摘要： A door security apparatus and method that is adapted to assist in retaining a pair of adjacent doors in a closed state, thereby to help protect against unauthorized opening of the doors by placing the doors into an open state. The door security apparatus includes a channeled extension beam having a longitudinal axis, the beam is adapted to fit over and removably engage a pair of adjacent door edges that are in the closed state and a mechanism for manually selectively rotatably clamping or unclamping the beam to at least one door edge. Wherein the doors have increased protection against unauthorized opening, thus placing the doors into a more secured closed state, the mechanism only manually selectively clamping or unclamping the beam from the door edge by applying a manual external force in conjunction with manual forward or manual reverse rotation.

The mechanism includes a dual element bolt throw and flush bolt actuator, which locks in place in the extended position if the end of the bolt is pressed inwardly. The throw includes a transfer mechanism which translates the horizontal movement of the bolt to vertical movement at the flush bolts. The flush bolts also include a mechanism to limit retraction thereof if the extending end of the flush bolt is exposed to inward directed force. The entire lock mechanism may be actuated by a standard cylindrical lockset having actuating jaws extending therefrom. The lock mechanism case may include an aperture therein, through which the handle housing extends, which aligns the jaws in the handle housing with the rear end of the bolt.

摘要： An emergency door, such as a fire door which closes automatically in case of fire, includes a nose piece which moves to an extended position when the door is closed to provide a seal of the gap otherwise present between the forward edge of the door and an adjacent door frame or door, and generally also interlocks with a mating portion of the adjacent frame or door. An addition latching element may be provided to extend from the top edge of the door and be received in a keeper when the door is closed. Door operating hardware, preferably all mounted interiorly of the door except for a push bar on one side of the door and a door handle on the other side, is operable to retract the nose piece and latching element when it is desired to open the door. The nose piece and latching element are held in retracted position when the door is open. A release device releases the latching element and nose piece to extend to extended position when the door is moved to a closed position. The release device is easily operable so the doors are reliably closeable by a door closer device. The doors may be hinged by a hinge piece received in respective door and jamb receiving channels, and if so, the hinge piece is supported by a block at the bottom of the jamb channel and the door is supported by a block at the top of the door channel.
