A water level gauge for a nuclear reactor includes heat conduction means for absorbing and conducting heat to the outside of the drywell, the heat being supplied to reference water head water inside a reference water head tube defining a reference water level inside a reference water level container, and to water inside a lower part pressure pipe connecting a nuclear reactor pressure vessel with a differential pressure detector. The water level gauge further includes heat exchanger for removing the heat. With this device, the water level of the nuclear reactor may be correctly detected even in the case of leakage accident of the coolant of the nuclear reactor.

An interphase level regulator and method for using it are provided for continuously monitoring and controlling the level of tar in a settling or decanter tank where the tar is separated from an aqueous fluid. The interphase level regulator has an interphase tube vertically positioned inside or outside the settler or decanter tank after an initial separation of tar and aqueous fluid from the emulsion of tar and aqueous fluid. The interphase tube contains one or two pneumatic dip tubes that are supplied with air and yield a different pressure when a change occurs in the level of decanted tar in the interphase tube. The difference in pressure at the dip tube is measured and transmitted to a valve that controls the flow of decanted tar from the settler or decanter tank.

A mounting support serving as an interfacing connection between a process vessel or a valve or other fluid pressure transmitting structure connected to a process vessel and an instrument capable of sensing the differential pressure between the vapor-space pressure and the hydrostatic head pressure of fluid within the process vessel for the purpose of meansuring liquid level within the vessel. The mounting support in addition to providing structural support for the differential pressure sensing apparatus serves to transmit vapor pressure to the low side and hydrostatic head pressure to the high side of the differential pressure mechanism. The support may also be provided with a bypass passage between high and low pressure passages within the support for the purpose of establishing a balanced pressure condition between the low pressure and high pressure sides of the differential pressure sensing mechanism for the purpose of calibration, which bypass passage is provided with appropriate valve means to control fluid communication between the passages. The support includes orienting means to insure proper installation thereof.

A closed fuel tank comprises a liquid level indicating means having a transducer cell mounted adjacent the bottom thereof. The cell comprises a bottom wall having a centrally disposed opening formed therein to communicate fuel to an internal, air-filled chamber of the cell. A tube forms an extension of the opening and extends downwardly from the bottom wall to form a ''''bubble trap.'''' A perforated baffle member encapsulates the tube to retard ingress of fuel into the chamber to prevent pressure surges therein. The air pressure level in the cell, proportional to the head of fuel in the tank, is communicated to a calibrated fuel gage mounted externally of the tank.
