摘要： An adapter for permitting a lamp to be threaded into a light socket while preventing damage to the socket through application of excessive threading force includes a threaded sleeve rotatably mounted on a cylindrical body and conductive securing means for preventing longitudinal movement of the sleeve with respect to the body, the securing means being urged nto sliding electrical contact with the sleeve and being connected to an electrical conductor for maintaining electrical continuity between the sleeve and an energizing terminal of the lamp. A cam on the ring cooperates with an opening in the sleeve for permitting relative rotation between the sleeve and body in one direction when a threshold torque is exceeded to prevent damage to the socket but preventing relative rotation in the other direction so that the lamp and adapter can be threaded out of the socket.

摘要： A conversion device is disclosed which adapts a three-way light fixture to the use of an ordinary electric bulb of the type having but a single filament. The device employs a pair of current controllers which can be activated separately or together by the three-way switch of the light fixture. Each controller governs the current flow to the filament during different half cycles of the full cycle of the impressed a.c. line voltage. One controller employs a trigger circuit to gate an SCR on at a predetermined phase of the a.c. wave whereby the SCR conducts current to the filament for a portion of a half wave to provide the lowest level of illumination. The other controller utilizes a diode to permit one half of the full wave alternating current to flow in the filament to provide an intermediate level of illumination. The highest level of illumination is obtained where the current controllers are activated together so that the diode conducts for one half of the a.c. cycle and the SCR conducts for a portion of the other half of the a.c. cycle.

摘要： An adapter assembly for coupling a standard fluorescent lamp to an incandescent lamp fixture socket, comprising a base member having a lower threaded portion for disposal in the fixture socket, a ballast transformer electrically coupled to the threaded base, and a plurality of electrical contacts disposed in the base member and electrically coupled to the transformer for electrically coupling the electrodes of the fluorescent lamp to the ballast transformer. One end of the fluorescent lamp is disposed in a pair of the electrical contacts in the base member, while the other end of the tube is electrically coupled to the ballast transformer by a cap slidably disposed over the end of the lamp which includes electrical contacts coupled by elongated wires in an elongated tube disposed adjacent the lamp to another pair of contacts in the base member. The adapter assembly permits the insertion of a standard fluorescent lamp in an incandescent lamp socket fixture without modification.
