摘要： A vest type flotation device having means for holding the flotation device in a folded configuration for transport and storage. In one embodiment a transport and storage strap member is attached substantially at its outer end to one of the right and left sides. The transport and storage strap member has a first portion of a first releasable locking member set attached thereto adjacent its inner end. A second portion of the first releasable locking member set is attached to one of the right and left front portions of the device. A second portion of a second releasable locking member set is attached to the right or left side of the device opposite the side to which the outer end of the transport and storage strap member is attached.

摘要： A flotation device including an elongated body portion with a substantially rectangular shape capable of fitting around a user's midsection. This elongated body portion is made of buoyant material and has an exterior shell made of substantially semi-elastic material. The semi-elastic material can be extended to form a tighter fit around the user's midsection. The flotation device of the present invention also includes at least two adjustable side straps attached to the elongated body portion. Each adjustable strap extends in a longitudinal direction and along the major dimension of the elongated body portion. These adjustable side straps can be adjusted for a tighter or looser fit around the midsection. The flotation device also features a two-part adjustable bottom strap having a first end attached to a front section of the elongated body portion, and having a second end attached to a back section of the elongated body portion. The first end and the second end can then be fastened through the user's legs to engage corresponding male and female buckles.

The adult dons a harness and places the child into a vest, which vest is a personal flotation device. The vest is attached to the harness in order to facilitate normal carrying of the child by the adult. In a body of water, the vest can be detached from the harness allowing the child to float free of the adult, with the vest being tethered to the harness for safety.

Preferably, buoyant material sections are generally plate-shaped. Preferably, the pockets are made of cloth and located at prescribed positions on the outside and/or the inside of the buoyant material sections.

摘要： A survival vest having a broad central strip forming the stem of a "Y" covering the back of the wearer, with left and right front strips (forming the twin forks of the "Y") dividing from the stem of the "Y" at the back of the neck and running down along each of the front shoulder/armpit areas of the wearer. The tips of each fork of the "Y" expand to form large, pockets which cover the front of the chest, abdomen, and (partially) the sides of the wearer. The twin large pockets are formed using a heavy-duty zipper, sewn around the periphery of each pocket area and are completely detachable. A webbing harness reinforces the vest across the inside of the twin pockets and along the forks of the "Y"-shape of the vest, from the base of the pockets to the point at which they join to form the collar of the vest, and along the outer edges of the stem of the "Y" which forms the back of the vest. A number of hook-and-loop fasteners (such as Velcro.RTM.) in the form of strips or patches are used to attach the survival pouches. The loop portion of the fasteners are sewn into the inner surface of each large pocket area (next to the wearers body), and the hook portion of the fasteners are sewn into the back surface of the smaller survival equipment pouches.

摘要： A new life jacket with flexible life line for allowing a user to have a life line conveniently located on their life jacket so that the line can be easily accessed during a rescue. The inventive device includes a life jacket with a top, a bottom, and front and back floatation panels. The panels define a pair of side spaces between them which are each adapted for extending an arm therethrough. A flexible pouch having an interior compartment and an top opening into the interior compartment is coupled to the front and back floatation panels. A length of flexible line having opposite ends is disposable in the interior compartment of the pouch such that the ends of the flexible line are extended from the pouch. One of the ends of the flexible line has a fastening clip coupled thereto which is detachably attachable to a portion of the life jacket for securing the one end of the flexible line to the life jacket.
