Abstract: A man over board rescue system 100 may comprise a main body 200 with the main body quickly and easily being attached and detached to a ship's bitt. Thus, the system may be quickly set up prior to departing and quickly put away at the end of a voyage. The system allows for the fast and efficient rescue of a person overboard without need for a rescuer to enter the water or to risk bodily injury in retrieving a person in the water. The system provides secure mechanical means allowing for a winch to be used in the support of a person which is a significant departure from the prior art.

Abstract: A device for retrieving a stranded or drowning person can attach to a boat cleat and be used to draw the stranded person towards the boat. The device has a floatation portion that is thrown to the stranded person. The floatation portion has multiple latches for different sized persons. A winch portion pivots about a cleat adaptor, which attaches to the horns of a boat cleat using an aperture and a locking pin. The winch portion receives the cord that is attached to the floatation portion. An optional ice foot mates to the cleat adapter for retrieving a person who has fallen through ice.

Abstract: An evacuation slide may comprise an inflatable side rail extending from a head end to a toe end of the evacuation slide. A lifeline-geometric restraint may be coupled to the inflatable side rail. A restraint pin may be coupled to the lifeline-geometric restraint. A first loop may be coupled to a first location on the evacuation slide. A second loop may be coupled to a second location on the evacuation slide. The first loop may be configured to receive the second loop and the second loop may be configured to receive the restraint pin when the evacuation slide is in a folded position. The restraint pin may be configured to translate out the second loop in response to an internal pressure of the evacuation slide exceeding a predetermined internal pressure.

Abstract: The swimming safety tether is lifesaving support for a swimmer. The swimming safety tether provides a rope suspended from an arm over a swimming pool. The rope passes through the pull switch of an alarm and provides a number of gripping points that the swimmer may grasp. A swimmer needing assistance may grasp the rope and pull. The force on the rope may trigger the alarm to produce visual and audible indications of distress. The swimmer may attempt to pull themselves to safety using the rope while the visual and audible indications attempt to attract assistance.

Air cannon and associated launch canister for a line-fouling system

Abstract: FIG. 7 shows an air cannon system loaded with a launch canister containing a prop-fouler. A pressure vessel (28) contains an inlet including a poppet valve (100) that, upon command, can be selectively placed in either a one-way flow position to permit charging of the pressure vessel or otherwise opened to trigger rapid discharge through pressure equalization with the ambient environment. The air cannon may include multiple splayed barrels or a single barrel (158). A launch canister (202), realized in the form of a tube, has a driving plate (350) that closes an end of the launch tube. The driving plate is the first point loaded into the barrel. Within the launch canister (202) a first portion of a floating prop-fouling line is stored. The prop-fouling line, such as made from Dyneema®, has at its ends two drogues that, upon entry into the water, fill with water to produce drag resistance to movement of the prop-fouling line. To avoid undue stress on canopy panels of each drogue and to avoid twisting of shroud lines (312) to the canopy, a rotating shackle (310a, 310b) acts as a coupling point between the shroud lines (312) and the prop-fouling line. Only one drogue (306), its associated coupling and a selected length prop-fouling line are loaded into the launch canister, with the other drogue and its rotating shackle (310b) loaded into a cradle (166). Upon firing, gas expansion causes the rapid acceleration and ejection of the launch tube (202) and generally straight line deployment of the prop-fouling line (302).

Abstract: The present invention is a marine rescue apparatus for ship-based rescue of a victim in the water. The apparatus has two parts: a sling positioning device and a removably attached sling component. The sling positioning device is made up of a positioning pole connected to two positioning arms. The sling component is made up of a sling rope connected to a sling loop. The sling loop has non-positive buoyancy, and is removably attached to the positioning arms. This allows a user to guide the spread sling loop over a non-responsive victim to capture them, even if the victim is in a prone position or underwater. After the user detaches the sling positioning device, they can pull the victim on-ship manually, or by using some type of rescue mechanism.
