    摘要: An X-ray tubehead counterbalancing mechanism devoid of springs, cams and chains is disclosed. The mechanism requires only a single adjustment to precisely counterbalance objects, such as tubeheads and the like. The mechanism includes a commercially available gas spring which is used in conjunction with parallel motion linkage assembly which carries the tubehead. The piston rod end of the gas spring is adjustable upwardly or downwardly in a direction substantially normal to the axis of the piston rod by means of a single adjustment screw cooperating with a clevis which pivotally mounts the piston rod. With such adjustment capability, the present mechanism will support and counterbalance tubeheads having wide variations in weight and inertia.

The drive sprocket undulates about the axis of rotation of the drive shaft and by its positive engagement with the inner surface of the transmission chain, transfers rotary energy to the off-drive sprocket, the relationship between drive shaft rotation and off-drive shaft rotation being a function of the difference between the sprocket radii.

An electric motor is mounted within the spool and has a housing and drive shaft operable in the forward and reverse directions. A concentric ring is mounted to and rotates with the spool and a driving gear surrounds the concentric ring, the two having concentric adjacent surfaces. A gear train operatively connects said motor shaft to the concentric driving gear, and a clutch assembly is operatively located between the concentric driving gear and the driven concentric ring, which is selectively engaged and disengaged in response to the direction of rotation of the concentric driving gear so as to produce rotation of said spool in response to operation of said motor in a forward direction when said clutch assembly is engaged.

    摘要: A low noise, self-locking winch with a cylindrical cable drum having a cable wound around its periphery. The drum is rotated by a drive wheel which is fixedly mounted on a drive shaft. A latch wheel, having a smooth outer periphery, is slidably mounted on the drive shaft adjacent the drive wheel with a layer of frictional braking material positioned therebetween such that axial pressure on the latch wheel with respect to the drive shaft causes the latch and drive wheels to rotate as a unit. A crank is threaded onto the end of the drive shaft adjacent the latch wheel so that rotation of the crank in a winding direction forces the latch wheel against the drive wheel to rotate the cable drum. A pivotally mounted latch lever is resiliently biased against the smooth outer periphery of the latch wheel in a manner that causes the latch lever to cam against the latch wheel as the drum rotates in an unwinding direction thereby locking the winch. Cable is unwound from the drum by rotating the handle to release the pressure of the latch wheel against the drive wheel thereby allowing the drive wheel to rotate free of the stationary latch wheel.

    摘要: The method of removing printing press rollers or cylinders, and a removal mechanism for use therein in extracting relatively heavy printing press rollers from very restricted and confined locations.The method comprises affixing to the frame of the press a pair of removal mechanisms, one at each end of the press. Each such mechanism comprises a mounting bracket including clamping means, a winch and an extension having an opening through which the winch line extends. The extension rests against the topmost rollers and the line is extended into the center of the press to be wrapped about the respective end of the roller to be removed. Simultaneous operation of such winches causes the roller to be lifted from its bearings or journal, thereafter to be lowered by means of the winches for manual removal.

    摘要: A cable winch shaft, adapted for rotational mounting adjacent its opposite ends in laterally spaced supports, has an end extension formed as a ratchet gear which is confined in a cavity in a base member also adapted to be secured to one of the supports. An adjacent, communicating cavity in the base member guides the reciprocative movement of a spring-loaded ratchet arm provided at its inner end with a ratchet dog which is urged resiliently into engagement with the gear to secure the winch shaft against rotation in one direction but allowing its rotation in the opposite direction. The opposite end of the arm projects from the base member for manual manipulation, against the resistance of the spring loading, to disengage the dog from the gear and thus release the winch shaft for rotation in both directions. The terminal portion of the gear extension projects through an opening in the base member and is adapted for engagement of a crank by which to rotate the winch shaft, and the intermediate reel portion of the shaft includes means for releasably securing one end of a cable.
