    摘要: An optical pickup device imparts different astigmatisms from each other to light fluxes in four light flux areas formed around an optical axis of laser light, out of the laser light reflected on a disc. The optical pickup device also changes the propagating directions of the light fluxes in the light flux areas to separate the light fluxes in the light flux areas each other. A signal light area where only signal light exists is defined on a detection surface of a photodetector. Eight sensing portions are arranged at a position corresponding to the signal light area. According to this arrangement, only the signal light is received by the sensing portions to thereby suppress deterioration of a detection signal resulting from stray light. Further, a push-pull signal, whose DC component is suppressed, is obtained by computing an output from the eight sensing portions by a predetermined formula.

An optical pickup device 1 includes a collimator lens system 23, a beam expander 33, and an objective lens system 34 that includes an S-SIL element 27b. The beam expander 33 includes three lens elements 33a to 33c. By moving in an optical axis direction, the two lens elements 33a and 33b included in the beam expander 33 adjust a focal point of a spot formed within an optical recording medium 28, and compensate a spherical aberration caused by the difference in depth between recording layers.

Each lens includes a central portion including the optical axis and a peripheral portion located in a periphery of the central portion. The central portion of the first lens acts as a convex lens; and the central portion of the second lens acts as a concave lens. Where the refractive index of the first lens at d line (wavelength: 587.56 nm) is nd1, the Abbe constant of the first lens represented using the refractive indices at d line, F line (wavelength: 486.13 nm) and C line (wavelength: 656.27 nm) is νd1, the refractive index of the second lens at d line is nd2, and the Abbe constant of the second lens represented using the refractive indices at d line, F line and C line is νd2, the objective lens fulfills nd1>nd2 and νd1>νd2.

The light guiding unit guides the first wavelength light beam and the second wavelength light beam to the first data density optical storage medium or the second data density optical storage medium.

The astigmatism element converges laser light reflected on a disc in a first direction and a second direction to form a first focal line and a second focal line. The polarization setting element makes polarization directions of light fluxes different from each other, the light fluxes being obtained by dividing a light flux of the laser light transmitted through the astigmatism element into two by a straight line parallel to the first direction. The polarizer transmits light having polarization directions obtained by inverting the polarization directions set by the polarization setting element with respect to the straight line parallel to the first direction, respectively.

A light pencil coupling portion which receives the light pencil from the light guide optical system is provided in a surface parallel to a direction in which the light pencil is guided by the optical waveguide; and a reflective surface which deflects the light pencil to the light pencil coupling portion is provided in the light guide optical system. The light pencil coupling portion has the function of correcting aberration resulting from oblique incidence of the light pencil obliquely incident from the light guide optical system. A medium member which has a refractive index of more than one is provided between the reflective surface and the light pencil coupling portion.

    摘要: There is provided an optical head which have no such problems regarding increase in cost and size thereof and can reduce errors by suppressing crosstalk components attributable to reflection on lands of a magneto-optical recording medium and thereby prevent degradation of reproduction characteristics. An optical element includes a light separating section for separating outgoing light and return light, and a phase compensation section for imparting phase compensation to light incident thereon. The optical element is provided on a light path of return light between an objective lens and a photodetector, so as to be closer to the photodetector than the light separating section is. This makes it possible to impart the phase compensation to the return light and prevent the degradation of reproduction characteristics. Light separating elements such as beam splitter are no more necessary in the configuration, with the result that decreases in size and cost can be realized.
