摘要: A mobile station configured to perform a soft handoff. The mobile station comprises a receiver and a smart antenna module. The receiver is configured to receive a plurality of similar RF signals that comprises a plurality of first RF signals generated by a serving base station or first base station transmitter, and a plurality of second RF signals generated by a second base station transmitter. The smart antenna module comprises a means for classifying the similar RF signals from the second base station transmitter as an interference signal when the first RF signals exceeds a first threshold. Additionally, the mobile station comprises a means for reclassifying the interference signal from the second base station transmitter as a desired signal when the first RF signals generated by the serving base station are below the first threshold. The mobile station also comprises a second threshold, which triggers an instruction to transmit a first signal strength associated with the first RF signals and a second signal strength associated with the second RF signals to the first base station. The mobile station then receives an instruction from the first base station transmitter to simultaneously demodulate and combine similar RF generated by the first base station transmitter and the second base station transmitter.

摘要: Wireless communication device tuning an antenna matching circuit responsive to a receive signal quality indicator and, optionally, responsive to a failed access probe is provided. Systems and methods are provided that increase the antenna efficiency in either the transmit frequency or the receive frequency in an idle or access state as needed, based on fading conditions, non-ideal antenna efficiency balance, mobile station forward versus reverse link usage and system forward versus reverse link usage. The antenna efficiency may be changed incrementally or may be optimized completely for the transmit frequency or the receive frequency. The re-balancing is accomplished by tuning the antenna matching circuit. One way to tune the antenna matching circuit is to apply a voltage to a ferro-electric capacitor in the matching circuit, thereby changing the capacitance of the ferro-electric capacitor, thereby changing the impedance of the matching circuit.

摘要: In the present invention, a lighting controller is provided to provide illumination based upon the playing of musical instruments. The lighting controller is programmed with lighting profiles which control the lights on a device. When musical instrument is played, a note (event) is detected by a transducer and based upon which event has been detected, a signal is sent to the lighting controller to determine which lighting profile to send to the device. Upon determining the proper lighting profile. a signal is sent from the lighting controller to the device causing the device to illuminate.

摘要: An apparatus (10) for connection with a vehicle portion (8) comprises a grab handle (40) and a grab handle hinge (60). The grab handle hinge (60) supports the grab handle (40) for pivotal movement relative to the vehicle portion (8) between a grab handle stored position adjacent the vehicle portion (8) and a grab handle operative position spaced apart from the vehicle portion (8). A cap (70) blocks visibility of part of the grab handle hinge (60) from the vehicle occupant compartment when the grab handle (40) is in the grab handle stored position. A cap hinge (90) supports the cap (70) for pivotal movement between a cap stored position covering the part of the grab handle hinge (60) and a cap operative position spaced apart from the vehicle portion (8) and from the grab handle hinge (60). The cap (70) has a portion (74) adapted to support a garment when the cap (70) is in the cap operative position.

摘要: A novel and improved digital FM audio processor for use in a dual-mode communication system selectively operative in either FM or code division multiple access (CDMA) modes. Analog voice or voice-band data is input to a speech encoder/decoder (CODEC) which converts the analog signal to a digital signal. The digital FM signal is read from the CODEC, filtered, compressed, up-sampled and combined with a transponded SAT signal and then modulated for RF transmission. On the receive side, the FM analog signal is received, demodulated, down-sampled, expanded, and filtered before being converted to the proper format (.mu.-law, a-law, or linear) for the speech CODEC. The CODEC then converts the digital FM audio signal into an analog waveform for conversion to sound. By performing the FM audio processing digitally, the same digital signal processing (DSP) firmware may integrated on the same application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) which is capable of performing audio processing of both FM and CDMA audio signals.
