摘要: In a method for generating an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbol to be included in a PHY data unit for transmission via a communication channel, wherein the OFDM symbol includes a plurality of OFDM tones, information bits to be included in the OFDM symbol are encoded to generate encoded information bits. The encoded information bits are parsed into a plurality of spatial streams. The spatial streams, or space-time streams generated from the spatial streams, are mapped to transmit chains using a plurality of spatial mapping matrices corresponding to the plurality of OFDM tones. Additionally, one of i) reordering OFDM tones before spatial mapping is applied, or ii) reordering OFDM tones after spatial stream mapping is applied and reordering spatial mapping matrices to match the reordered OFDM tones is performed. The OFDM symbol to be included in the PHY data unit is generated.

摘要: In a method for generating data units for transmission via a wireless network, a first signal field that includes formatting information for a data unit is generated, and a CRC field for the first signal field is generated according to a generator polynomial. Further, a second signal field that includes formatting information for the data unit is generated, and a CRC field for the second signal field is generated according to the generator polynomial. Further, the data unit is generated to include i) the CRC for the second signal field and ii) a preamble having a) the first signal field, b) the CRC for the first signal field, and c) the second signal field.

摘要: In a method for estimating a channel between a transmitter and a receiver in a communication network, a plurality of training signal fields are received at the receiver. Each training signal field includes a plurality of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) tones, and the OFDM tones include at least a plurality of training data tones and one or more pilot tones. Channel estimate data corresponding to the plurality of training data tones and the one or more pilot tones is determined. Channel estimate data corresponding to only a subset of the OFDM tones or data generated using the channel estimate data corresponding to the subset of OFDM tones is transmitted to the transmitter, wherein the subset excludes pilot tones.

摘要: In a method for transmitting a data unit in a wireless communication network, a physical layer (PHY) preamble and a media access control layer (MAC) header are generated. In generating the MAC header, a first address field to include a first address and a second address field to include a second address are generated. The first, not globally unique, address indicates a communication device for which the data unit is intended or a communication device that is transmitting the data unit. The second address field indicates the other one of a communication device for which the data unit is intended or a communication device that is transmitting the data unit. The first address field and the second address field are included in the MAC header. The MAC header omits a globally unique address corresponding to the first address of the first address field.

摘要: A method of generating packets for transmission in a wireless communication system. The method comprises generating a data packet and generating a null data packet. Generating the data packet includes generating a data packet signal (SIG) field including a first data packet SIG subfield indicating a first physical layer (PHY) parameter to a receiving device. Generating the data packet also includes generating a data field. Furthermore, generating the null data packet includes generating a null data packet SIG field. The null data packet SIG field includes a first null data packet SIG subfield indicating a second PHY parameter to a receiving device. The data packet SIG field excludes any SIG subfield indicating the second PHY parameter to a receiving device, and (ii) the null data packet SIG field excludes any SIG subfield indicating the first PHY parameter to a receiving device.

The transmitter is configured to transmit a request for parameters to a second wireless device via a communication channel, wherein the parameters include at least one of (i) an estimated quality of the communication channel and (ii) a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) for transmission via the communication channel. The transmitter is further configured to, based on at least one of the parameters, select a MCS for transmission to the second wireless device via the communication channel. The receiver is configured to receive a response from the second wireless device via the communication channel, wherein the response includes the parameters.

摘要: A physical layer (PHY) data unit is generated for transmission via a communication channel in accordance with a transmission configuration. The transmission configuration corresponds to at least one of (i) one or more particular numbers of spatial streams, and (ii) one or more particular channel bandwidths. A number of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols to be included in a payload of the PHY data unit is determined based on (i) determining the number of OFDM symbols according to a first technique when using a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) from a set of MCSs allowed for the transmission configuration, and (ii) determining the number of OFDM symbols according to a second technique when using an MCS excluded from the set of MCSs allowed for the transmission configuration.

A described system, for example, includes a device configured to transmit signals, in a frequency band, to the wireless communication devices. The signals can include spatially steered first signals that concurrently provide data to the wireless communication devices. The signals can include one or more second signals to the wireless communication devices to control transmission of responses from the wireless communication devices in the frequency band. The device can monitor for the responses in the frequency band. The device can control, based on a lack of reception of an expected response, a transmission of a third signal in the frequency band to prevent a transmission from another wireless communication device different than the wireless communication devices. The third signal can include information to reschedule a transmission of a response from a wireless communication device.
