摘要： A system for monitoring operations of a Telephone Number Mapping (ENUM) system is disclosed. A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, an ENUM system having a controller element to monitor queries received from one or more network elements, detect one or more faults in the queries submitted by at least one among the one or more network elements, and prevent the at least one of the one or more network elements from submitting subsequent queries to the ENUM system. Additional embodiments are disclosed.

摘要： A communication system includes an application server that includes logic to recognize that preference data in each of a plurality of data record entries of a subscriber record has a common value. Each data record entry includes a Uniform Resource Identifier (URI), and the subscriber record is stored in a telephone number mapping (ENUM) server. The application server also includes logic to issue a command to initiate contact concurrently with devices identified by URIs in the subscriber record via an Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem (IMS).

摘要： A telephone number of the callee is received from a caller device. An Internet protocol Multimedia Subsystem (IMS)-based telephone number mapping (ENUM) query is constructed based on the telephone number of the callee. An ENUM database is queried based on the ENUM query. If a response to the ENUM query is absent a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) Uniform Resource Indicator (URI) or a telephone (TEL) URI, the telephone number is resolved into one or more non-SIP/non-TEL URIs usable to communicate with the callee. The caller is enabled to use the caller device or other devices to select which of the one or more non-SIP/non-TEL URIs to use to communicate with the callee. For each caller-selected non-SIP/non-TEL URI, communication in a protocol associated with the URI is initiated between the caller and the callee using the caller device or other devices.

In one embodiment, the method includes receiving a connection request at an originating serving call session control function (S-CSCF) network element. The connection request indicates that a caller device has placed a call to a destination device associated with a ringback audio content service subscriber. The method also includes receiving a plurality of naming authority pointer (NAPTR) records at the originating S-CSCF network element from a telephone number mapping (ENUM) server. The NAPTR records include a plurality of ringback audio uniform resource indicators (URIs) associated with the destination device. The method also includes modifying the connection request to include the plurality of ringback audio URIs.

摘要： An analog telephone adapter (ATA) comprises a dial tone generator, control logic and a packet generator. The dial tone generator generates a dial tone when the ATA is in an unregistered state. The control logic processes a dial-out request when the ATA is in the unregistered state. The control logic directs the packet generator to generate an invite packet for an emergency proxy to handle the dial-out request on behalf of the ATA when the ATA is in the unregistered state.

摘要： In a distributed system, such as a local area network having a facility for synchronous remote procedure calls and multi-threading, an interface mechanism for linking client workstations on the distributed system with external switched communications networks is provided. The interface extends the remote procedure calling facility beyond the distributed system by classifying the different types of remote procedure calls that can be issued to a switched communications gateway in the distributed system, and permitting the issuance of multiple threads of control, according to the type of function the procedure call represents. Related functions are forced to execute sequentially at the gateway, while those classified as unrelated functions can execute sequentially. The advantages of heterogeneity and concurrency of the distributed system are thus extended to its switched communications links with external switched networks.
