    摘要: In a transmission apparatus, unlike in the conventional transmission apparatus, a protection switch is not arranged on the signal path, but a TSI having only the basic function performs the function of the protection switch as a substitute, a processing unit to perform the switching function at a low rate is artificially constructed on a TSI, the switch process of SONET protection type is artificially executed by the TSI, and a signal for controlling the TSI function is further controlled thereby to realize the protection switch function. The logic of switching at the main signal rate in addition to the conventional TSI function is deleted.

    摘要: An apparatus and methods are provided for the communication of a data stream and management of faults in a multipath data network having a protected ring-in-ring network architecture. The data stream is communicated over redundant paths between various nodes located throughout the network. Each node is capable of dropping and inserting data from the data stream before passing it on to the next node. A single transmitter in communication with an intelligent splitter at each node is utilized to simultaneously transmit the data stream over the redundant paths. In the event of a fault over one of the paths in the network, the intelligent splitter manages the operation of the single transmitter so that the data stream is communicated over an alternate path to circumvent the fault.

    摘要: A plug-in card for an optical transmission apparatus includes a J1generating unit. The J1 generating unit sends information on on-use side J1 data to a plug-in card at a spare side in a redundant structure when the plug-in card operates as an on-use side plug-in card. The J1 generating unit receives information on on-use side J1 data from a plug-in card at the on-use side when the plug-in card operates as a spare side plug-in card. Based on the information, the J1 generating unit matches spare side J1 data to the on-use side J1 data. The plug-in card also includes a B3 byte calculating unit that operates in a similar way as the J1 generating unit does in processing B3 byte data.

    摘要: An apparatus and methods are provided for the communication of a data stream and management of faults in a multipath data network having a protected ring-in-ring network architecture. The data stream is communicated over redundant paths between various nodes located throughout the network.     摘要: A method of automatically provisioning a network-wide function using a plurality of network elements in a service provider network and using a sub-network level approach is provided. In one specific approach, a software wizard facilitates provisioning a bi-directional line switched ring (BLSR). First user input, specifying a plurality of ring attribute values that define attributes of a bi-directional line switched ring, is received. Second user input, specifying one or more working spans for the bi-directional line switched ring, is received. Each of the network elements is automatically configured to participate in the bi-directional line switched ring based on the parameter values. Embodiments may provide a software wizard for implementing the foregoing process. In certain features, spans for a BLSR are automatically selected based on a selection of a first candidate span; only selected nodes and spans that are capable of participating in a BLSR are displayed; and port orientation for all spans in a BLSR is automatically determined based on user input defining port orientation for a first port of a first span.

    摘要: A computer-based monitoring system provides interactive topology information about a synchronized optical network (SONET). The monitoring system utilizes a trunks integrated record keeping system (TIRKS) connected to the SONET for collecting status data in a raw format. A computer system retrieves the raw format status data from TIRKS and provides the data in a simple graphical user interface to a user. The interface includes several menus from which the user may specify specific components of the SONET, and a graphical output for providing a graphical representation of the SONET. The graphical output illustrates each node and link and interactively provides more detailed information about any user selected link or node.

    摘要: An Internet Protocol Television (IP-TV) broadcasting service system and method using a physical layer multicast switch are provided. The system comprises: a head end which converts an Ethernet signal to a virtual concatenation group (VCG) signal of a synchronous digital hierarchy/synchronous optical network (SDH/SONET); a multicast switch which multicasts the VCG signal in a physical layer; and a tail end which receives the multicasted VCG signal through a Synchronous Transmission Module level n (STM-N) optical link and restores the VCG signal to the Ethernet signal. Therefore, high quality TV broadcasting can be provided in an IP multicast network.
