摘要: A disposable seal assembly for use with a reusable cannula preferably includes a flapper valve fluid seal and at least one instrument seal. The instrument seal has a sacrificial flange and a sealing flange that protrude from an inner baffle connected to the assembly's main body by a flexible outer baffle, and at least one elastomeric rib extending between the inner baffle and the body to prevent inversion of the inner baffle. Preferably, a surface of the sacrificial flange is configured to prevent the flanges from sticking together during use. An adaptor, tethered to the assembly's main body, has a central channel with an hourglass profile, a concave distal flange, distal bumpers for preventing the adaptor from translating too far into the main body, and a grip portion shaped to allow a user conveniently to separate the adaptor from the main body. Other aspects include systems with a reusable cannula, and methods for using such systems.

摘要: A disposable seal assembly for use with a reusable cannula, where the seal assembly is designed for use with the cannula during a single medical procedure and the cannula is designed for multiple uses (each time with a different seal assembly) during a number of medical procedures. The seal assembly includes both a flapper valve fluid seal (for sealing the cannula when no medical instrument is inserted through the seal assembly) and at least one instrument seal (for sealing the cannula when a medical instrument is inserted through the seal assembly). Preferably, the seal assembly has a body with a flange which can be snapped onto the cannula before use, and readily removed after use. Also preferably, the flapper valve has an over-centered hinge. In other embodiments, the invention is a seal assembly which includes at least one double instrument seal including a sacrificial flange and a sealing flange, and optionally also a flapper valve. The sealing flange seals the cannula when a medical instrument is inserted through the seal assembly even when the sacrificial flange has been cut during insertion of the instrument. In other embodiments, the invention is a system including a reusable cannula, and a disposable seal assembly of any of the described types which can be snapped onto the cannula before use and readily removed after use.

摘要: The present invention relates to a system to warn of early removal of food from a cooking medium. The system is a combination of a frypot, a basket sensor and an alarm where the frypot is a container holding a cooking medium such as oil or shortening. Food items to be cooked are placed in a control zone in the cooking medium and held by a basket that holds the food submersed in the cooking medium. The basket sensor is installed to detect the presence of a basket in the container. The basket sensor is monitored by a cooking computer that controls the alarm, activating the alarm if there is no basket in the frypot when a cook cycle is initiated or when the basket is removed before the cook cycle is completed. The cooking computer monitors the cooking cycle by using a preprogrammed cook time and adjusting the time based on variations measured in the cooking medium temperature or other factors.

摘要: Bubbles produced at an electrode in an electrolytic process are coalesced by providing a surface-limiting, electrically inert masking device of which at least a bottom portion is submerged in the electrolyte. The masking device reduces the free surface of the electrolyte between the electrodes and this urges the gas bubbles together so that they coalesce, resulting in larger bubbles and less acid mist generation.

摘要: A mechanical face seal includes a pair of relatively rotatable seal rings having opposing seal faces which define a sealing region therebetween. The sealing region extends radially between the inside and outside diameters of the seal rings to seal a fluid in a sealing chamber near one diameter thereof. The seal faces are provided with tapered channel macro/micro features which generate hydrodynamic lift during relative rotation of the seal rings. The tapered channel macro/micro feature shows significant improvement in seal performance when compared to an untextured face. Low contact and hence low wear are attributed to a more distributed hydrodynamic load support function. Likewise, low leakage is believed to be the result of optimized cavitation function, and no debris was discovered in the micro-features at the conclusion of any testing.

摘要: A method is disclosed for pre-sending content size information so that content objects that might exceed the client device's resources are not sent in subsequent content transmissions. For example, a network node may receive from a content server a content message directed to a client device, wherein the content message includes a plurality of object references, each referencing respectively an object that is not contained in the content message. The network node may determine an object size of at least one of the objects and a supported content size for the client device. Based upon the determined object size and the determined supported content size of the client device, the network node may modify the content message by removing the object reference referencing the at least one object and then send the modified content message to the client device.
